Trump Media & Technology Group planned to overhaul its crypto treasury strategy after reporting a $238.1 million second-quarter loss.
The company disclosed the strategy on Aug. 10 alongside its quarterly results, citing digital asset volatility and balance-sheet management. The move kept Bitcoin at the center of Trump Media’s capital strategy despite large paper losses.
It also shifted the company toward active treasury management through options, lending and other yield-generating arrangements. The group reported $190.4 million in unrealized losses across digital assets, pledged assets and equity securities.
Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich said on Aug. 13 that the Japanese Bitcoin treasury company did not sell any of its holdings after moving 5,014 BTC, valued at roughly $322 million, between custodial addresses over the previous 24 hours.
The statement answered speculation generated by large transfers from wallets publicly associated with the company. Gerovich said, “This was a routine custody operation. No bitcoin was sold, and our holdings remain 43,000 BTC.”
He added that moving the roughly $322 million in Bitcoin cost the company approximately $8 in total network fees.

Fidelity has filed an amended registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to add staking to its Fidelity Ethereum Fund.
The Form S-3/A filing, made under file number 333-297005, would let the fund stake the Ether it holds and earn rewards for shareholders.
The amendment updates an earlier registration, filed in June 2026, that did not permit staking. According to CoinDesk, an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) safe harbor issued in November 2025 lets qualifying crypto trusts stake without losing their grantor-trust tax status. Under normal conditions, the fund could stake as much as 100% of its Ether, according to the filing.
Strategy has spent the past six weeks actively managing STRC's price. The company announced a Digital Credit Capital Framework on June 29, combining a dollar reserve policy, a revised dividend structure, and repurchase authorizations, with an explicit goal of keeping STRC trading between $99 and $100.
Between July 20 and July 26, Strategy repurchased 288,930 STRC shares for about $25 million at an average price near $86.52.
In early August, the company sold $108.6 million worth of Bitcoin and used the proceeds to repurchase 1,152,020 STRC shares, on top of a $4.65 billion dollar-denominated reserve reported as of Aug. 9
