Summary

Microsoft is launching its Recall feature to Copilot+ PCs, building AI experience capabilities in Windows 11. Users can opt in, but privacy concerns have been raised.

Microsoft has officially released its newest feature for the Copilot+ AI, the Copilot+ PC recall. This is a key milestone for AI in Windows 11. The Recall allows users to recover content viewed in the past, as it takes and saves screenshots in the local file system at specific intervals. This feature, introduced in the April 2025 non-security preview, is available as an opt-in service, allowing users to enable or disable it as desired.

Enhanced-AI: Click To Do and Search Improved

Microsoft has also introduced Click to Do and made enhancements to Windows Search, along with Recall. Click to Do supports users in performing contextual actions by using keyboard shortcuts or touchscreen gestures to annotate texts or edit images. The improved Windows Search now accepts natural language questions, enabling simpler retrieval of files and settings. These features are available to those with Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD processors.

Security Addressing Privacy Concerns

The Recall feature was previously delayed due to privacy concerns, but a series of security upgrades has been integrated since then. The data gathered by Recall has end-to-end encryption, with local storage and access via biometric authentication through Windows Hello. Users have the choice to control their snapshots, including the ability to delete or exclude certain apps or web pages from being recorded. Such measures have been aimed at rectifying previous breaches in data security.

The AI Integration Walks Forward

With Recall, Microsoft demonstrates steps toward integrating hyper-advanced AI tools within Windows 11. Security upgrades have been introduced to address the previously raised privacy-related concerns; however, continued user feedback will help refine the evolution of these features. User privacy will always be a continued focus for Microsoft as more advanced features keep rolling out.
