The AWS outage caused login failures and broken connections. Several services stopped responding simultaneously. Reports came from multiple countries. Downtime affected gaming, streaming, and online shopping services. The timing made the impact worse due to heavy holiday traffic.

The AWS outage did not stop with games. Streaming platforms also felt the impact. Netflix users faced buffering and app crashes. Amazon Prime Video showed loading delays. Some users could not start content at all. Even Amazon services experienced checkout delays and session errors. The scale showed how many services depend on AWS cloud systems.
Game publishers and studios faced backend problems. Electronic Arts reported online feature outages. 2K and Saber Interactive were delayed in their account services. Server breakdowns caused massive interruptions to Embark Studios. The players were struggling to get their identities verified by the authentication systems. Numerous games lost their online features.
Experts pointed to cloud infrastructure issues as the likely cause. API errors appeared across affected regions. EC2 and load balancer delays increased sharply. DNS or network failures may have triggered the outage. Similar issues appeared during an earlier AWS disruption in October 2025. Heavy holiday traffic may have put additional pressure on systems.
AWS did not release an immediate detailed statement. Engineers monitored the situation as services slowly stabilized. The incident raised serious concerns about reliance on the cloud. One outage affected games, apps, and entertainment worldwide. The AWS down on Christmas event highlighted the need for stronger backups and better system planning.
