Summary

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is going to introduce a bucket full of new features and expansions in the next year for players to enjoy the game like the first time.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ glorious run has completed one month in April. On the last day of the month, Ubisoft unveiled an extensive post-launch roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, indicating its prolonged commitment to fans. This roadmap clearly states that the developer team isn’t going to abandon this game.

The roadmap promises an exciting first year filled with free content updates, gameplay enhancements, and a major story expansion. This is a new take that marks a departure from previous titles. It primarily emphasizes community feedback and regular content drops to enrich the player experience.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Major Expansion: Claws of Awaji

Ubisoft has promised to bring a range of additions to the game, including ever-changing Animus content, new immersion customization options, new difficulty settings, new modes, New Game+, and free quests. However, the center of attraction of the post-launch roadmap is the Claws of Awaji expansion. The roadmap reveals it will introduce a brand-new region, the island of Awaji, for gamers. This is set to launch later this year.

Ubisoft has decided to offer players more content and weapons through this expansion. So, in this expansion, players can expect to witness “new enemies, new abilities for both characters, and a new weapon specific to Naoe—the Bo staff.”

Though nothing specific has yet been revealed, the Claws of Awaji expansion is expected to delve deeper into the game's narrative. So, hopefully, it will offer new storylines and character development opportunities. Additionally, by expanding the game’s world and introducing fresh challenges, Ubisoft is determined to keep the AC Shadows fan base engaged in the game even after the main campaign concludes.

Free Content Updates and Community-Driven Improvements

Besides Claws of Awaji, there are more additions that will make their way to the game after certain intervals. For example, the next thing the roadmap has mentioned is the Story Drops. These are additional contents that will introduce new player abilities, new allies, and new world activities

The first Story Drop is scheduled for early May and is titled The Works of Luis Frois. In this story drop, players will explore Japan's Sengoku period and witness “a deeper look at the titular historical Jesuit scholar who's work about the Sengoku period of Japan endures to this day.”

The next thing that Ubisoft is about to enhance in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the parkour ability. Considering the community feedback, Ubisoft is adding height-gaining back-ejects, fully re-animated height-gaining side-ejects, and a brand-new parkour move called the Vertical Ledge Jump. This update will be introduced later this month.

Finally, the photo mode is getting enhancements with the addition of new filters, stickers, character poses, and facial expressions. Apart from that, it will also have ambient music.

Conclusion

After the groundbreaking success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is trying to revive its lost glory with the post-launch expansions and updates. After back-to-back failures, this French developer company suffered a lot, but AC Shadows has fixed everything for them. So, Ubisoft is also demonstrating a commitment to delivering a rich and engaging experience for players.

This post-launch roadmap clearly states that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will remain dynamic and immersive for the next year and continuously introduce new adventures and improvements to increase the fan base.
