Apple may introduce a deep red color option for iPhone 18 Pro, following strong consumer response to the orange variant, according to new leaks. The orange colored iPhone 17 Pro models turned out to be surprisingly popular. Here is everything we know so far about the iPhone 18 Pro color variants.

iPhone 18 Pro Deep Red Variant: What the Leak Suggests

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is testing a new deep red color for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models. The move comes after the success of the orange variant. That popularity appears to have encouraged Apple to experiment with more expressive colors.

There is still some uncertainty about how Apple will position the new shade alongside the existing orange variant. Some of the previously rumoured purple and brown finishes are said to be variations of the same red concept rather than entirely new colors.

Orange Variant’s Market Response

The iPhone 17 series has outsold the iPhone 16 lineup in key markets. It has also generated Apple's record revenue for the quarter ending in December 2025 (first quarter of Apple's fiscal year 2026). While Apple doesn't disclose sales figures by model type or color, iPhone generated for $85.23 billion out of the total $143.75 billion revenue for the December quarter.

Cosmic Orange has proved to be an extremely popular color this year across the world. Another factor is that it is instantly recognisable in public. The Cosmic Orange color adds to this appeal and exclusivity, as it is the only smartphone with this specific shade.

Some Chinese buyers were associating Cosmic Orange with the "Hermès orange" color after influencers in the region found a connection between the iPhone 17 Pro models and the French luxury brand. MacRumors noted that the word for "orange" sounded like the word for "success" in Mandarin, which might be another association some buyers made when choosing the Cosmic Orange model in iPhone’s biggest market, China.

How the Deep Red Finish Could Appeal to Buyers

The Deep Red is expected to be a rich, Burgundy-like hue, reminiscent of fine wine. It could project luxury, confidence and individuality. If executed well, the colour could attract both style-conscious consumers and long-time Apple enthusiasts.

Distinct finishes help differentiate each generation. Limited or bold color options often influence purchase decisions, reinforcing the iPhone Pro lineup’s premium positioning in competitive global markets.

What to Expect from iPhone 18 Pro

According to leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch OLED display to support a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The smartphone is expected to run on Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chipset. iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to integrate 12GB of RAM, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB.

iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to have a 6.9-inch OLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The battery size is rumoured to be slightly smaller than the Pro Max model. Early reports also suggest that the Pro Max may feature a larger display, a smaller Dynamic Island and partial under-screen Face ID. This will be an immersive viewing experience for gaming, video, and productivity.

All the information provided above is based on leaks, and these can’t be confirmed until Apple releases an official statement. Early leaks position the iPhone 18 Pro as one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2026.
