Apple has taken its online store offline as it gets ready for iPhone Duo pre-orders. Currently, visitors who open the Apple Store online will receive a message: “Almost ready for you. Pre-order begins at 5:00 a.m. PT. See you soon.” Apple often does this before a major launch to update its website and prepare for a rush of orders. This time, the focus is on the iPhone Duo, the company’s first foldable phone. It has a standard outer screen and a larger inner display that opens like a book.

Once the store comes back online, customers across 70 different regions, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the UAE, the UK, and the US, will be able to pre-order the ‌iPhone Duo.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo begin on Friday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. IST in India. Customers can order through Apple’s website and the Apple Store app. The phone starts at USD 1,999 in the US, while prices may differ by country.

Customers who saved their model and payment details earlier can come back once the pre-order begins and complete their order faster than others. The first devices are expected to reach buyers on October 23, simultaneously with the offline availability of the model.

The iPhone Duo brings a new design to Apple’s phone range. It has a 5.4-inch outer screen for daily use and a 7.6-inch inner screen when opened. Apple has also focused on keeping the phone slim when it is open. The aim is to give users a tablet-like screen without making it hard to carry. This could appeal to people who want a bigger display but do not want to carry a separate tablet.

Can the iPhone Duo Win Over Existing iPhone Users?

The iPhone Duo is expensive. With a price tag of USD 1,999 in the US, the foldable Apple model costs more than most other regular smartphones in the country. Therefore, buyers must decide whether the large screen, multitasking features, and foldable design are worth the extra money.

Apple has a loyal user base, and they are always ready to try something new. Additionally, the craze around the model is also significant. Still, if you’re not someone who likes travel, work, or entertainment, you must consider it once again before spending that amount on it. In these cases, a regular smartphone will work fine. Therefore, the success of iPhone Duo will depend on whether buyers see enough value in the new design to pay the higher price.
