Anthropic has introduced managed agents to its Claude platform to simplify and accelerate AI deployment for enterprises and developers. It will support scalability and automation in AI workflows. Managed Agents is now available in public beta on the Claude Platform.

What are Managed Agents in Claude?

Anthropic has announced a new feature for Claude called Managed Agents. This feature helps developers build and deploy AI agents much faster. The company describes Claude Managed Agents as a 'suite of composable APIs for building and deploying cloud-hosted agents at scale.'

Managed Agents is a set of composable APIs that run on Anthropic’s own infrastructure. Developers only need to describe what the agent should do, what tools it can use, and what guardrails should be in place. A built-in orchestration system then decides when to use tools, how to manage context, and how to recover from errors.

Why This Feature Matters for AI Deployment

Until now, creating AI agents has meant handling complex backend work, such as secure infrastructure, state management, permission setup, and constant system updates when models change. With Managed Agents, developers can now 'go from prototype to launch in days rather than months,' according to Anthropic.

Anthropic said the Managed Agents include production-grade agents with secure sandboxing, authentication, and tool execution handled for you. Agents can also run for hours in long sessions, and their progress is saved even during disconnections. The research preview also supports multi-agent coordination.

Managed Agents is designed specifically for Claude models. In the research preview, developers can define outcomes and success criteria, and Claude will 'self-evaluate and iterate until it gets there.'

“In internal testing around structured file generation, Managed Agents improved outcome task success by up to 10 points over a standard prompting loop, with the largest gains on the hardest problems,” Anthropic said.

Future of AI Agents in Enterprise Tech

The launch comes as Anthropic rides a wave of enterprise momentum. Businesses want AI agents that can handle complex workflows autonomously, but building them requires orchestrating multiple systems, managing API calls, handling errors gracefully, and maintaining security protocols.

Claude Managed Agents changes that equation. Instead of requiring businesses to build their own infrastructure for agent deployment, Anthropic handles the orchestration layer, error handling, and scaling challenges.

Microsoft already offers managed agent capabilities through Azure, while Google has been pushing Vertex AI Agent Builder.

According to recent industry surveys, over 70% of companies experimenting with AI cite deployment challenges as their biggest barrier, not model performance. Anthropic is essentially offering to remove that barrier entirely.
