Bharti Airtel has announced free international roaming for postpaid subscribers in India from October 8, 2026. The new Airtel postpaid plans include one international roaming trip per every year for each SIM. The benefit aims to reduce roaming costs for customers traveling abroad through a bundled connectivity pack.

Each eligible SIM receives 5GB data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS, and free incoming SMS. The complimentary pack remains valid for five days after activation.

The offer covers individual and family Airtel postpaid plans, giving each family member an annual roaming benefit. Airtel allows customers to activate the pack whenever required during an international trip.

The five-day validity starts only after activation, rather than when the postpaid plan begins. This approach gives travelers more control over their free international roaming benefit.

Airtel's new postpaid portfolio starts at Rs. 499 per month for individual connections. Family options start at Rs. 749 for two SIMs and extend to Rs. 1,799 for five SIMs.

Every plan includes one free international roaming trip per SIM each year. The plans also bundle unlimited data, calling, and network-level spam and fraud protection.

The additional benefits vary across the Airtel postpaid plans based on their monthly rental. The Rs. 499 plan includes Xstream Play Premium and Google One subscriptions. Higher family plans add services including Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Apple Music, Apple iCloud+, and Netflix.

Airtel Director of Market Operations Amit Tripathi highlighted the broader value of the refreshed postpaid portfolio. “Postpaid for us is about delivering the best-in-class experience in the Indian market,” Tripathi said.

The move also strengthens Airtel's position in the growing international roaming market. Vodafone Idea recently introduced similar roaming benefits across selected plans. Airtel, however, has tied the new benefit directly to its postpaid portfolio.

Existing Airtel customers can move to the new plans through the Airtel App or an Airtel Store. The same upgrade option applies to customers using older postpaid plans or prepaid connections.
