Artificial intelligence has become part of everyday work for professionals across India. According to Naukri's World AI Day Report 2026, 77% of Indian professionals now use AI at work, while employees with AI skills earn more than those without them.
This report is based on surveys conducted on around 27,000 experts working within over 80 different sectors. The report clearly demonstrates that AI is now no longer limited to the technology sector alone.
The report highlights a steady increase in employer demand for AI talent. AI-related skills now appear in 15.4% of technology job descriptions, up from 0.9% in 2020. That represents nearly a 17-fold increase over six years.
This demand is not limited to the technology industry alone. There has been a rise in mentions of AI skills in non-technology-related positions by almost six times from 2020. The increased demand is reflected in the higher compensation packages. According to the report, professionals with AI skills command higher salaries than their peers without AI expertise.
According to the survey results, AI technology has been applied for regular activities in the workplace instead of specific purposes. Approximately 71% of respondents mentioned that they use AI for validation of ideas, problem-solving, and planning. The above information indicates that workers have started to utilize AI to increase efficiency and make decisions.
As businesses incorporate AI in their operations, recruitment needs are changing too. Organizations have begun focusing more on recruiting employees who will be able to use AI systems even if the job position is not in the technology industry.
The report highlights the fact that AI skills are becoming one of the key skills needed in workplaces. Given that AI implementation in various industries is growing, people with AI experience are expected to be highly in demand in the future.
