Not so long ago, having a robot at home meant just plugging in a Roomba and letting it cruise your floors like a tiny sentinel collecting dust. But now, Google and Tesla are the faces of a new frontier in robot design that are more like humans

But now, as artificial intelligence and machine learning advance at a breakneck pace, robots are becoming smarter and far more human. And if futurists have their way, your home may soon be inhabited by a humanoid robot that stands on two legs.

Tesla creates humanoid robots that are AI-powered. Google intends to attach a robot body to its AI brain. Droids are rapidly becoming more humanlike thanks to robotics.

We witnessed significant advancements in the field of robots in 2022. The first two functioning prototypes of Tesla's so-called Tesla Bot have been unveiled at the company's 2022 AI Day: Optimus, a walking humanoid constructed from commercially available parts, and a second, more sophisticated version of Optimus that the firm plans to put into production.

Optimus is based on Tesla's self-driving AI, but the AI has been modified to explore the rest of the environment and recognize common items and people rather than being created to navigate highways and comprehend traffic signals. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, claimed the robot was created to be the type of domestic assistance you may one day buy for your parents while speaking at AI Day.

According to Musk, "Optimus is supposed to be a highly powerful robot built in a very high number — may be, ultimately, millions of units." And it's anticipated to be far less expensive than a car.

Not just Tesla is giving its artificial intelligence a tangible embodiment. By giving its cutting-edge machine-learning brain a robot body, Google is also revolutionizing the field of robotics. In 2022, Everyday Robots (a business born out of Google's X program) began constructing robots using Google's AI technology, known as Palm Say-Can. The robot brain utilizes machine learning to comprehend ambiguous instructions like, "I'm hungry," and then it figures out the procedures to fix the problem, as opposed to being programmed with directions such as, "If this, then that."

Perhaps not the first firms that come to mind when you think about assistance robots are Google and Tesla. However, these industry leaders in technology represent the public face of a brand-new development in robotics: highly intelligent robots created to interact with and traverse our world without human assistance.

Tesla is perhaps the largest robotics firm in the world because of its cards and interest in semi-sentient robots on wheels, claims SpaceX founder Elon Musk. To place that knot in a humanoid form makes some sense. "I think Elon Musk is extraordinary when it comes to seeing possibilities, and he's on about Tesla pleading for a robotics firm," said Ben Wolff, chairman, and CEO of Sarcos Robotics.

The Tesla Bot may be a crucial component in a more serious effort by Tesla to expand its horizons beyond automobiles if it is a scientific project with a long way to go before becoming a reality. However, only time will tell if the Tesla Bot concept is a bit less out there than it now appears to be. It's not a terrible moment to try to divert the public's attention away from the urgent issue surrounding Tesla car crashes and the company's Autopilot technology. Remember: Electric vehicles previously appeared like a fairly crazy concept.
