Casio launches virtual G-shock community and gives free NFTs

Around September 4, Casio launched its "Virtual G-SHOCK" initiative, which would function as an interactive user community centred around its legendary line of shock-resistant watches.

G-SHOCK, which launched with shock-resistant technology in 1983, has subsequently become a global craze. Casio's brand has long been associated with tough, long-lasting timepieces, and it has strengthened its position via collaborations with notable people in fashion, sports, art, music, and other cultural fields.

Community & Co-Creation

Around September 4, Casio launched its "Virtual G-SHOCK" initiative, which would function as an interactive user community centred around its legendary line of shock-resistant watches.

G-SHOCK, which launched with shock-resistant technology in 1983, has subsequently become a global craze. Casio's brand has long been associated with tough, long-lasting timepieces, and it has strengthened its position via collaborations with notable people in fashion, sports, art, music, and other cultural fields.

Members who participate in co-creation can improve the community and advance to a higher level depending on their efforts. Increased donations result in higher levels, which provide benefits such as priority project engagement and NFT acquisition. This strategy attempts to encourage active engagement while also ensuring that devoted members are recognized and rewarded for their efforts. It emphasizes the significance of collaboration and active engagement within the context of the community.

Casio announced in its news statement that it would run its G-SHOCK Creator Pass Colour Design Contest in the future, where community members will be able to choose the design features of the past, including its colours, materials, and patterns. The chosen design will be the official appearance of the G-SHOCK CREATOR PASS.

In March 2021, OpenSea, in collaboration with Swiss business WIseKey, offered the sale of the first-ever watch NFT – The Bigger Bang All Black Tourbillon Chronograph Special Piece – from Jean-Claude Biver.

Since then, several manufacturers have sought to combine legendary clocks with NFT technology, including Jacob&Co. (Louis Moinet Space Revolution), TIMEX, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot (in collaboration with Takashi Murakami), and TAG Heuer.
