In an exciting development, the Galaxy S23 FE is now receiving the long-awaited Android 14-based One UI 6 update in the United States. Despite its initial launch coinciding with Google's release of Android 14 for Pixel smartphones, the S23 FE disappointingly shipped with Android 13, seemingly squandering one of the promised four major OS upgrades from Samsung.
While the original Galaxy S23 trio S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra embraced the One UI 6 update on October 30, the Fan Edition model faced an additional month of anticipation. However, the S23 FE has gradually made its way through various markets in recent weeks and is now finally gracing the US. Specifically, carrier-locked units, including AT&T and Cricket, began receiving the update on December 12, with expectations of a prompt expansion to unlocked units.
As part of the esteemed Galaxy S23 lineup, the S23 FE inherits all the cutting-edge features and improvements introduced by One UI 6 on flagship Galaxy devices. Users can effortlessly download the update over the air by navigating to the phone's Settings » Software update menu and selecting the "Download and install" option. Alternatively, tech-savvy users can access Android 14 firmware in Samsung's firmware library, downloadable to a Windows PC, enabling manual installation via a USB cable.
In a parallel development, Samsung is extending the Android 14 update to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, encompassing a broader range of countries. Initially limited to the European region, the update is now rolling out in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Latin America.
The Galaxy Tab S9 FE and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ are now enjoying the Android 14 update in diverse locations, including Afghanistan, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Egypt, Israel, Malaysia, Iraq, Morocco, New Zealand, Taiwan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the UAE, and Vietnam. Users in these countries can check for the update through Settings » Software update, initiating the download and installation process.
The Android 14-based One UI 6.0 introduces a plethora of enhancements to the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Notable changes include a revamped Quick Panel layout, a new font, updated emoji styling, and an innovative media player widget in the notifications area. The media player widget features an aesthetically pleasing waveform animation during music playback, accompanied by a dedicated battery section within the Settings app.
