I am Mohit Kumar Singh, Founder & CEO of Renewalytics Services Pvt. Ltd., a renewable energy technology company building AI-powered operational intelligence platforms for the clean energy sector.

My professional journey in renewable energy began in December 2016 with Climate Connect, where I worked extensively on forecasting, scheduling, and grid compliance for renewable energy generators. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work closely with independent power producers (IPPs), operations teams, regulators, and grid stakeholders, gaining first-hand exposure to the operational challenges of integrating renewable energy into the power system.

Following Climate Connect's acquisition by ReNew Power, I continued working on expanding renewable energy software solutions at a much larger scale. When the business was later divested to another market participant, I decided to pursue a different path by establishing Renewalytics with the belief that the industry needed an independent company focused entirely on intelligent software for renewable energy operations.

Today, Renewalytics supports more than 3 GW of solar and wind assets across commercial and pilot engagements. Our work spans AI-driven forecasting, scheduling, weather intelligence, DSM analytics, enterprise software, operational automation, and intelligent decision-support systems for renewable energy companies.

I believe the next phase of the energy transition will not be defined solely by adding renewable capacity, but by operating those assets more intelligently, improving grid stability, and enabling a more resilient power system through AI, data, and automation.

Q

Can you tell us about your journey and what led you to start Renewalytics?

A

My journey in renewable energy started in December 2016 when I joined Climate Connect. At the time, India's renewable energy ecosystem was rapidly evolving, and I had the opportunity to work closely on forecasting, scheduling, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day renewable energy operations.

Over the years, I worked on expanding the renewable energy business while interacting extensively with generators, grid operators, regulatory bodies, and operations teams. Those experiences gave me a practical understanding of how technology, regulations, and operational decision-making intersect in the renewable energy sector.

After Climate Connect became part of ReNew Power, I continued contributing to the growth of renewable energy software solutions on a much larger platform. Later, when that business transitioned to another organization, I felt it was the right time to pursue a broader vision independently.

Renewalytics was founded with the objective of building intelligent software platforms that help renewable energy companies operate more efficiently, improve decision-making, and prepare for an increasingly complex and data-driven power system.

Q

What problem in the renewable energy sector are you solving through Renewalytics?

A

India has set ambitious renewable energy targets, and the industry is scaling at an unprecedented pace. While generation capacity continues to grow, operational complexity is increasing just as rapidly.

Renewable energy companies must simultaneously manage weather uncertainty, grid regulations, scheduling obligations, battery integration, diverse data sources, operational risks, and increasingly complex market dynamics.

Renewalytics addresses these challenges by building AI-powered software platforms that help renewable energy companies improve operational visibility, automate routine workflows, strengthen decision-making, and optimize plant performance.

Our objective is to transform fragmented operational data into actionable intelligence that enables renewable assets to operate more efficiently while supporting a more reliable electricity grid.

Q

How is AI helping improve renewable energy forecasting and operations?

A

Artificial Intelligence is fundamentally changing how renewable energy assets are managed.

Machine learning enables continuous learning from historical generation patterns, weather behaviour, plant performance, and operational outcomes to improve prediction accuracy and support better planning.

Beyond forecasting, AI is increasingly assisting operations teams through intelligent co-pilots that validate data, detect anomalies, recommend corrective actions, identify performance deviations, and automate repetitive operational tasks.

At Renewalytics, we are building agentic AI capabilities where specialized AI agents collaborate to support weather intelligence, operational analytics, forecast validation, data quality monitoring, and performance optimization.

Our philosophy is that AI should augment human expertise rather than replace it, enabling engineers and operations teams to make faster and better-informed decisions.

Q

What makes Renewalytics different from traditional energy management solutions?

A

Traditional energy management platforms primarily focus on monitoring assets and reporting operational data.

Renewalytics is designed to go beyond monitoring by combining AI, machine learning, operational intelligence, automation, weather analytics, scheduling, DSM analytics, and enterprise workflow management into a unified platform.

Our team has spent years working within the renewable energy ecosystem, experiencing first-hand the operational realities of forecasting, scheduling, DSM management, SLDC coordination, and plant operations. That practical experience allows us to build solutions that address real operational challenges instead of simply presenting data on dashboards.

We believe the future lies in intelligent platforms that actively assist decision-making rather than simply displaying information.

Q

What role does data play in improving renewable energy performance?

A

Data is the foundation of every intelligent renewable energy system.

However, the true value lies not in the volume of data collected but in its quality, reliability, and contextual understanding.

Renewable energy operations depend on information coming from SCADA systems, weather services, meters, grid operators, market platforms, scheduling systems, and operational logs. Bringing these diverse datasets together into a unified and reliable operational view remains one of the industry's biggest challenges.

At Renewalytics, significant emphasis is placed on data engineering, validation, automation, and integration because reliable AI models can only be built upon reliable data.

High-quality data ultimately leads to better operational decisions, improved efficiency, and stronger grid reliability.

Q

What are the biggest challenges you see in scaling renewable energy operations?

A

As renewable energy portfolios expand across multiple states, operational complexity grows significantly.

Companies must simultaneously navigate evolving regulations, diverse weather patterns, battery integration, increasing grid complexity, multiple technology platforms, and rapidly expanding operational datasets.

Many organizations continue to rely on fragmented systems and manual processes, making it difficult to operate large renewable portfolios efficiently.

Successfully scaling renewable energy will require intelligent software platforms that combine automation, AI-assisted decision-making, predictive analytics, and seamless integration across operations, compliance, and grid management.

Q

What trends do you believe will shape the future of renewable energy?

A

The next decade of renewable energy will extend far beyond capacity addition.

I believe the sector will increasingly be shaped by battery energy storage systems, hybrid renewable projects, AI-powered operational co-pilots, autonomous software agents, intelligent forecasting, grid optimization, and advanced machine learning.

As renewable penetration continues to increase, maintaining grid stability will become just as important as adding new generation capacity. Utilities, grid operators, and renewable energy companies will rely far more heavily on predictive analytics, flexible energy resources, and intelligent software platforms to maintain system reliability.

The industry will gradually transition from monitoring dashboards toward autonomous operational intelligence platforms capable of supporting faster, smarter, and more resilient decision-making.

Q

What is your vision for Renewalytics in the coming years?

A

My vision is to build Renewalytics into one of the leading operational intelligence platforms for renewable energy.

We want to help renewable energy companies operate their assets more intelligently by bringing together AI, weather intelligence, enterprise software, battery optimization, operational analytics, automation, and intelligent decision-support into a unified platform.

As renewable energy systems become increasingly interconnected, I see Renewalytics evolving into a digital operating layer that helps organizations improve efficiency, strengthen grid reliability, and accelerate the global clean energy transition.

Our long-term ambition is to build technology from India that serves renewable energy companies across international markets.
