Experion Technologies is a digital product engineering and IT services company that has over 15 years of expertise in creating future-adaptive IT solutions. It has served more than 330 customers worldwide, including some of the world's largest organizations and the sharpest and fastest-growing early-stage companies. Experion originated as a digital product company and was born out of that experience and learning. The company's current product is product engineering DNA.
At Experion, the core team has established that building business-critical digital products, sometimes for unchartered markets, requires a deep understanding of the opportunity, the market, and the business model. It requires innovative, agile ways of working, comfort in working with ambiguities, and a product development mindset. This understanding has led to delivering unparalleled business value to customers— their success is the company's ultimate goal.
Experion has launched multiple digital products, most notably, FieldMax and xPort® by leveraging disruptive digital technologies. The company won several awards and industry recognition in recent years. More importantly, the team has gained valuable market experience working with futuristic technology solutions alongside established technology global giants like Samsung and Oracle.
Services include enterprise software solutions, product engineering services, digital transformation services, the start-up lab, data and analytics, experience and design services, and testing services. It works across industries including infrastructure and mobility, retail, healthcare, banking, financial services, and education.
Experion is a 100% digitally focused company that wants to bring in the best possible transformational outcomes in the focused domains. The razor-sharp focus on niche areas like behavioral health and intelligent mobility has been an added advantage. As a result, despite the pandemic and the ensuing economic turmoil, Experion has grown steadily at a rate of 40% YoY.
In 2006, a small EU-based offshore services company was taken over by the MD and CEO, Binu Jacob, and re-christened Experion Technologies. With his eye on the world gearing towards adopting disruptive technologies, he steered the company towards becoming a trusted partner for enterprises and startups alike. By 2009, Experion was already on the journey towards becoming a trusted digital transformation enabler. From 2010 to 2019, Experion broadened its market to include the US, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East, focusing on globalizing its operations.
During this timeframe, Experion's headcount rose to over 500 dedicated professionals, developing and delivering innovative digital solutions to more than 250 customers across the globe. Deloitte ranked the company among the 500 fastest-growing in the APAC region in 2016 and among the 50 fastest-growing software companies in India for the year 2017. This is in addition to having been listed among the top 25 Retail IT providers globally by the Singapore-based APAC CIO Outlook.
The past year has also been crucial in building critical mass as a company, and Experion just crossed the 1000 employee mark. In addition, Experion has definite plans to expand its workforce across its centers in Bangalore, Trivandrum, and Cochin by over 600 engineers this financial year.
Binu Jacob is MD and CEO of Experion Technologies. He has over 25 years in various executive leadership roles in the Indian Air Force as well as executive management roles in various software companies. He has a track record of building successful business lines around enterprise software products as well as growing early-stage software product companies.
In 2006, it was Binu who took ownership of Experion. Soon after, in 2008, as the world reeled under the impact of the Global Financial Crisis, he looked beyond the immediate crisis and sensed an opportunity to steer the business towards emerging disruptive technologies. Throughout his journey as an entrepreneur, Binu showed the grit and perseverance required of a true leader, taking his team from a local presence to a global playground. It is his agility coupled with a sharp vision that has brought him consistent success and accolades.
Under Binu's leadership, Experion has set its sights higher than ever before. The company aspires to be recognized globally for "Exceptional Digital Product Engineering Expertise" where it began its journey and the core of its DNA.
Binu says that human-centered design is a vital mindset in the design process where every stage in the product development lifecycle is based on human-centered design principles. The best and latest tools from the industry are thoroughly evaluated and chosen from the arsenal to encourage open collaboration and co-creation. He adds that the outcome is improved customer engagement as the end users' needs are met and validated to reduce risks and also to ensure the right design decisions are made at every stage in the process to provide the maximum value to the customer.
One thing that separates Experion from other organizations is that the team strives for extreme customer engagement, claims Binu. It has a culture of taking ownership of work and trying to foster relationships with clients as trusted partners. The management encourages teams to drive exceptional customer engagement and try to dive deep into the actual needs and challenges that clients are facing and provide a solution customized to their specific challenges.
Because of the strong presence of different verticals within Experion and a dedicated design team made up of individuals with a lot of diverse backgrounds, it has the luxury of being able to deliver a design-centric mission to create better products for customers, clients, and users. Binu presumes that the tools include Affinity Designer, envision, sketch, miro, and Figma. Designers are certified in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User-Centered Design (UCD) and Human Factors Certified Usability Analyst (CUA).
Binu mentions that design thinking is not exclusive to designers, all great innovators in literature, art, music, science, engineering, and business have practiced it because design work processes help to systematically extract, teach, learn and apply human-centered techniques to solve problems in a creative and innovative way in designs, businesses, countries, and lives, and that's what makes it so special about Experion Technologies.
According to Binu, design is full of decisions about users which means one needs to understand the unique needs of users for design choices to be meaningful. The inclusive design puts the focus on bringing users back into the design process. Ultimately, the goal of inclusive design is to meet user needs and provide product solutions that are scalable and sustainable. He highlights that at Experion, accessibility in design is prioritized very highly. Binu appreciates that the design team works relentlessly to ensure that the products being developed are not just profitable to the customer and meet their expectations, but will actually result in a seamless experience for any user— the only true way to ensure success.
Both design thinking principles and inclusive design principles are celebrated and focused on at Experion. Designers have the freedom to get as creative as they want while applying these principles, keeping the end user's experience foremost in their minds. This is a learning ground where they can experiment, play, and hone their skills, turning each of them into a designer par excellence.
Binu claims that the company tries to expose employees to a wide range of industries, tools, and verticals and they work on different projects which allow them to build UI /UX skills across a wide range of real-world situations. The design team leads all activities of one of the state-level design communities (IxDF Kerala).
At Experion Design, the team nurtures and develops curiosity, has the freedom to experiment, and therefore, the freedom to fail, because experimentation is about moving into unknown territory- it is a freedom to explore, venture, experiment, iterate, and succeed, reveals Binu.
Binu addresses that Experion provides its people with the autonomy to practice and express novel ideas and also provides the right environment to experiment with them. The team propagates creative confidence, the quality that human-centered designers rely on when it comes to making leaps, trusting their intuition, and chasing solutions that they haven't totally figured out yet. It believes that designers can and will come up with creative solutions to big problems and that all it takes is rolling up their sleeves and diving in. This motivates everyone to try to express ideas to execute their day-to-day tasks. Thus, Experion as a company progresses by giving people this creative freedom.
It has moved beyond the customer-vendor relationship to turn into a partner, fighting alongside customers to make their business succeed through customizable, personalized, and memorable digital customer experiences.
Binu states that Experion has partnered with Mixpanel, a business analytics service company, to improve user experience. The design team at Experion doesn't work in a bubble, from the beginning of every digital product engineering engagement, engineering, and design work together to create a solution that speaks directly to the customer's needs. The human-centered design mindset in every engagement has been key to success as a company and has kept both engineering and design teams innovative in their approaches.
Inc. magazine recently revealed that Experion Technologies USA has appeared on the Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies listing for the fourth year in a row, exclaims Binu. In addition, Experion was also featured in the "2021 Fastest-Growing Regional Companies" list as one of the Top 100 fastest-growing companies in the Texas region for the second consecutive year. Adding to its growing list of accolades, Experion has been recognized this year as one of The Economic Times' Most Promising Brands for 2021. Additionally, The Manifest, a business resource platform designed to help users learn more about the IT, marketing, and business services industries, recognized Experion Technologies as India's most recommended Data and Analytics Company for 2021. In December 2021, Experion Technologies was also recognized as Great Place to Work-Certified.
Binu expresses that Experion has over 50 reviews on Clutch, a B2B research, ratings, and reviews site that identifies leading IT and marketing service providers and software. Clutch evaluates companies based on over a dozen quantitative and qualitative factors, including client reviews, company experience, client list, industry recognition, and market presence. Experion has gained a solid 4.0 out of 5-star rating.
Binu opines that major industries and startups are now using digital transformation by leveraging modern technologies and developing capabilities. It helps to enable them not only to free employees from menial repetitive tasks and foster innovative thinking but also to predict customer needs and continuously stay ahead of changing customer desires.
He adds that the future will have multiple opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and machine learning, SaaS (Software-as-a-Service), and cybersecurity (concerns on privacy/data breaches).
According to Binu, the entire organization orbits around digital technologies and humanizing experiences. The products and services are user-centered, making the end user's lives easy by providing usable, intuitive solutions to complex workflows. These high-quality solutions, which become key growth drivers for customers' businesses and provide greater outcomes will remain the keystone to success.
