Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 7, its newest Android 15-based operating system, complete with AI-powered features and a revamped user interface. The South Korean technology giant has made it official that the upgrade will begin rolling out on April 7 for the Galaxy S24 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6, followed by a broader rollout in the following weeks for additional devices.
A slew of visual and functional enhancements with AI tools leading the charge are present in One UI 7. One new feature, the Now Bar, entails an active notification system on the lock screen showing contextual information. Samsung has extended Galaxy AI to include AISelect, which lets one mark off particular sections of the screen, and Writing Assist, which polishes the presentation of text and its summarisation. Yet another AI tool, the Drawing Assist, lets you create images from sketches or textual prompts.
Along with the new interface for the Quick Panel and Notifications, which have been split into two different screens for ease of use, there are major changes in Notifications, too. Relevance is brought into larger-orientated pill-shaped notifications while the toggles in the Quick Panel are enhanced, and a volume control bar is introduced. Gemini AI is equipped with real-time answers and natural language search within the settings as well.
They are highlighting security and personalisation as well. Users would have more control over the arrangement of their applications and the position of widgets, alongside options for vertically scrolling their app drawer. In terms of security, the Knox Matrix Dashboard gives a glimpse of Samsung devices connected, and a new feature is included to lock the phone and block USB access, providing another level of protection.
The Audio Eraser feature, one of the other major highlights, can remove unwanted background noise from videos. Meanwhile, Samsung assures that additional devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S10 and S9 series, will get the update shortly, though specific timelines are not shared.
With One UI 7, Samsung will continue to extend the boundaries of AI-based user experiences, providing more customisation, security, and smooth integration within its ecosystem.
