IIT Guwahati launches online data science and AI program on Coursera

On the online learning platform Coursera, IIT Guwahati is introducing a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree program in Data Science and AI.

Anyone who has completed Class XII or an equivalent with mathematics as a required subject is eligible to apply. According to a Coursera press release, those qualified and registered for JEE Advanced (in any year) would receive direct admission. In contrast, those who are not eligible can enroll in an online course and be admitted based on their performance.

This program teaches students the digital skills necessary to succeed in the modern workforce. According to Parameswar K. Iyer, the acting director of IIT Guwahati, "They graduate understanding how to utilize the most recent AI and data science approaches in any subject, setting them up for success in their professions.

Access to the entirely online degree programs is now available through a variety of admissions channels, thanks to IIT Guwahati. Anyone who has completed mathematics as a required subject in grade 12 or its equivalent is eligible to apply. Direct admission will be granted to qualified people who have registered for JEE Advanced (in any year), while those who do not may take an online course and be admitted based on their performance. The degree offers several exit possibilities and rewards learning throughout. According to the press announcement, students can graduate from the program by turning their credits into certificates, diplomas, degrees, and ultimately honors degrees.

More than 4,00,000 unfilled positions, including those for AI engineers, data engineers, ML engineers, and data analysts, are available for graduates in India. IIT Guwahati offers assistance with job placement and gives students access to Coursera Hiring Solutions, a platform for skill-based hiring. Graduates from IIT Guwahati have landed jobs at prestigious businesses like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, L&T, and Intel, it was noted.
