Generative AI Set to Transform iPhone and Mac in 2024

Tim Cook announces that generative AI will be available for the iPhone and Mac in 2024

Apple enthusiasts have been a little let down by the company's tardiness in releasing any AI-related products, even while the IT sector is cruising through the generative artificial intelligence revolution. Conversely, Google and Samsung, Apple's competitors, have already unveiled many new AI functions using their language models. However, Apple's wait will soon come to an end as it plans to release generative AI on the iPhone, Mac, and other devices by the end of 2024.

Tim Cook shared his enthusiasm about the technology's potential and disclosed plans to include Generative AI in Apple products, such as the iPhone and Mac, by 2024.

This area of AI uses deep learning models, such as GANs and VAEs, to generate new, comparable data by learning from enormous amounts of data. Generative AI has several uses; it may be used for voice synthesis, music creation, picture improvement, and code authoring.

Applications of generative AI include, for instance:

  • FaceApp: An increasingly popular program that modifies face traits including age, gender, hair type, and expression using GANs.
  • DeepMind's WaveNet: A deep neural network that can process raw audio to produce music and speech with a lifelike tone.
  • OpenAI's Codex: A system that can take instructions or inquiries in plain language and produce and run code.
  • ChatGPT: A chatbot that, in response to user input and circumstances, can produce realistic and captivating dialogues.

Cook stated that Apple is devoting "a tremendous amount of time and effort" to developing AI features, which would be unveiled in the upcoming months, but he did not disclose any specifics on the company's plans for generative AI. Additionally, he stated that Apple aims to "enrich the lives of our users" by using AI in a "responsible" manner.

Apple may employ generative AI to improve its current services and products, such as Siri, Photos, Music, and Maps, according to several analysts and experts. Apple may employ generative AI, for instance, to enhance the voice and personality of Siri, produce unique picture and video effects, construct playlists and radio stations that are specifically tailored to the user, and offer more precise and realistic navigation and directions.

A personal assistant, social network, game platform, content creation tool, or other new product or feature may be developed by Apple using generative AI, according to some. To illustrate, Apple may employ generative AI to enable users to produce and distribute their games, tales, stickers, avatars, memes, and other material; offer and receive feedback; carry out tasks and activities; and more.

Cook stated that Apple intends to provide further information about its generative AI research "later this year" and expressed his belief that Apple has a "huge opportunity" with generative AI and AI in general. Additionally, he stated that Apple does not "get out in front of ourselves" when it comes to AI, instead choosing to "do work and then talk about work."

Though it is unclear what Apple will reveal in terms of generative AI, it is certain that the business is leading the AI race and that its consumers and supporters should expect some "incredibly exciting" things from it.
