Samsung’s foldable future is getting slimmer, smarter, and sharper. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been launched, and on paper, it appears to be a significant evolution over the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, users still have questions about the new model, notably its Rs. 25,000 price jump and associated trade-offs.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 makes a strong first impression. It’s thinner and lighter across the board. Folded, the phone measures 8.9 mm; unfolded, just 4.2 mm. Weight drops to 215 grams. In comparison, Fold 6 measures 12.1 mm when folded, 5.6 mm when open, and weighs 239 grams.

Z Fold 7 doesn’t just feel better. It’s built better, too. The front features Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the back is protected by Victus 2. The new Armor Flex hinge delivers a smoother fold with less of the familiar crease.
Both models come with an IP48 rating, offering protection against dust and splashes, although they’re not designed for full water immersion.
The rear camera setup appears familiar, yet it packs significant changes. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a 200MP wide-angle main sensor, lifted straight from Samsung’s top-tier Galaxy S25 Ultra. It’s a major upgrade from the Fold 6’s 50MP camera. The 12MP ultrawide and 10MP 3x telephoto lenses remain unchanged.
Selfie cameras now match, with 10MP sensors on both the outer and inner displays. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, in comparison, featured a 10MP outer camera and a 4MP under-display camera, which was never particularly sharp.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a high-performance chip specifically designed for the device. Samsung claims that the phone features a CPU that is 38 percent faster, a 26 percent more powerful GPU, and 41 percent smarter AI processing compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Z Fold 6.
RAM and storage options have also expanded. The smartphone starts at 12 GB and now offers up to 16 GB of RAM, along with 1 TB of storage. Z Fold 6 maxed out at 12 GB. The software is fresh out of the box, running Android 16 with One UI 8.
It feels responsive, fluid, and includes features like Gemini Live multitasking and deeper Galaxy AI integration. These AI upgrades are not just for show. They subtly enhance camera framing, app behavior, battery efficiency, and multitasking layout.

The battery capacity remains at 4,400mAh on both models, supporting 25W wired, wireless, and reverse charging. However, thanks to improved chip efficiency and software optimization, the Z Fold 7 offers a slightly longer screen-on time. Expect up to 24 hours of video playback, which is an hour more than the Fold 6.
In India, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 price starts at Rs. 174,999. Fold 6 has been launched at Rs. 149,999. That’s a Rs. 25,000 gap for anyone deciding whether to upgrade. In the US, Fold 7 launched at $1,999, which is $100 higher than the debut price of Fold 6.
Pre-orders have been open since July 9, with the phone officially available from July 25. Trade-in credits and launch bundles are available in all markets.
If a lighter frame, a better camera, smarter software, and a sleeker design top the list, the Z Fold 7 is the one to pick. This is Samsung’s most refined foldable yet. It finally feels ready for the mainstream, not just early adopters.
