The functionUp is India's leading Backend Development boot camp, which trains candidates in software development courses, especially Backend engineering. The platform provides a placement Bootcamp that offers online live classes, educational content, and training sessions for learners which will help them in securing high-paying jobs as software developers. We, like a boot camp, intended to be the largest and most aspirational coding platform in the country.

2. Kindly mention some of the major challenges the company has faced till now.

The major challenge that any online learning platform faces is the maintenance of the course completion rate. It remains the biggest challenge for Online courses where students drop off, especially while learning a hard skill. We have been able to keep a high course completion rate of 85% by keeping trainees motivated and attentive with the help of guides and mentor systems.

3. Kindly share your point of view on the current scenario of Big Data Analytics and its future.

90% of all the data available on the internet was created in the last 2 years. The amount of data and the speed at which it is created is far more than we can comprehend. To understand, analyze and make useful sense of this data, Big Data Analytics is going to play a major role in the coming years.

With faster servers and much higher processing powers, Companies can analyze big data for revealing information like current market trends, hidden industry patterns, correlations, and customer preferences. The industry is booming rapidly with India being the major market for Big Data Analytics across the globe.

4. What is your biggest USP that differentiates the company from competitors?

The major USP that differentiates us from our competitors is the unique business model. The business model of the platform is "Pay after Placement", where candidates pay for tuition fees after getting their first salaries. We also offer 50% of scholarships to women candidates to empower them in the tech field. The firm has helped candidates in securing tech jobs with a pay scale ranging from 5 lakhs per annum to 40 lakhs per annum. The company has a dedicated team of IIT, NIT, and ISB alumni who are passionate about solving the key problem of starting a career in the technology sector.

5. What are your growth plans for the next 12 months?

In the coming future, we are planning to extend our offering to other high-tech skills such as Blockchain and Web3 courses. For this, we are targeting to increase the intake of candidates to 1000 per cohort as there are enough opportunities as well as to deserving candidates for the boot camp. The company has experienced a growth of 150% month-on-month in the past 9 months. Also, we intend to train more than 5000 trainees in FY 23.

6. What are the skill sets that you specifically look for while hiring at an initial stage?

The functionUp has a limited number of seats for learners with stringent selection criteria. Instead of focusing on a candidate's educational background, we try to check their level of dedication and willingness to learn to code. We allow candidates from all backgrounds who are eligible for employment to be enrolled in our course. We do multiple interview rounds with applicants before final selection. As functionUp provides intensive educational lessons with real-time industry experience, we assure the candidates have the potential to stand up to the marks.

7. Which industry verticals are you currently focusing on? And what is your go-to-market strategy for the same?

We are currently centered around Back-end engineering and Front-end engineering only. Around 15% of graduates with non-coding backgrounds have managed to get tech jobs in MNCs and top-notch companies with the teaching support of the function.

8. What is your Leadership Mantra?

My leadership mantra is to let people drive through ownership. There are no shortcuts and tough things get done with time and effort. We take care of all our team members and provide a healthy and congenial working environment but are uncompromising on results.
