Dogecoin (DOGE) is trading around $0.06991, showing about a 0.29% dip over the last 24 hours. DOGE sits at a critical technical spot, where whale accumulation and some bullish signals compete with historically thin seasonal momentum. DOGE carries a market cap near $11.96 billion, with a 24-hour trading volume of $302.76 million, according to CoinMarketCap.
The memecoin is roughly 40% under its recent two-month peak near $0.118, so many traders are watching closely whether the $0.07 zone can act like a base for a recovery.
Recently, DOGE managed to push through a descending trendline, which hints that short-term sell pressure might be fading. Crypto analyst KrissPax mentioned that this breakout could point to a rotation in DOGE’s near-term drive.
However, buyers failed to establish control above $0.071, pushing DOGE back into consolidation.
The broader technical structure also remains challenging. DOGE continues to trade below its key moving averages, indicating bearish sentiment in the near-term.
Large holders are accumulating even while the price structure remains weak. As per analyst dogegod, whales recently bought around 680 million DOGE worth roughly $48 million.
The accumulation could decrease the available selling supply if those tokens remain in large-holder wallets. However, whale purchases do not really guarantee upside, especially when the broader crypto appetite is weak.
Derivatives activity also reflects caution. Open interest stands at $1.09 billion, down from $1.13 billion yesterday, while trading volume had declined 21.43% to roughly $302 million. Long liquidations were around $972,560 compared with just $121,870 in short liquidations.
Historical performance presents another obstacle. Historically, Dogecoin has recorded a median August return of -5.17%, making August its second-worst month.
DOGE has produced eight negative August closes, including declines of 17.9% in 2023, 16.9% in 2024 and 12.5% in 2019. However, positive years demonstrate DOGE's capacity for sharp moves when market conditions improve.
Meanwhile, analyst Ali Martinez said TD Sequential buy signals appeared simultaneously across DOGE's monthly, weekly, three-day and daily charts, describing the multi-timeframe alignment as a rare occurrence.

The bullish scenario requires DOGE to hold $0.068-$0.070 and decisively reclaim $0.07192. That could open a move toward $0.07679 and potentially $0.08458.
Conversely, losing $0.067 would weaken the recovery thesis and increase downside risk toward $0.0575.
For now, Dogecoin's August outlook remains mixed. Whale accumulation and technical exhaustion signals favor a potential rebound, but weak seasonality and substantial overhead resistance mean bulls still need a confirmed breakout before a broader recovery can take shape.
