Growth is expected across both on-campus and online education models, supported by industry collaboration and changing learning preferences.

This on-premises category is expected to see its valuation rise from USD 351.36 million in 2026 to USD 2,711.96 million in 2031, at a CAGR of 50.49%.
This is led by the demand for degree programs, increased institutional capacity, and the adoption of artificial intelligence and data science in traditional academia have led to higher valuations.
Online Education category is anticipated to grow from USD 527.03 million in 2026 to USD 3,612.15 million in 2031, at a CAGR of 46.96%. Increasing flexibility in learning through the Internet, the rise of micro-credentials and certificates, and the participation of working professionals in reskilling are driving higher valuations.
Overall valuation is anticipated to increase to USD 4,239.97 million in 2030 and USD 6,324.11 million in 2031.
The report highlights the growing demand for data scientists, as more organizations adopt advanced analytics technologies such as AI.
According to BLS job projections, the number of jobs in the sector is estimated to grow by 34% between 2024 and 2034, with an average of 23,400 jobs created per year and a median annual wage of USD 112,590.
The number of jobs is estimated to increase by 82,500 by 2034, indicating ongoing demand and use across various industries. As such, there are no mandatory minimum qualifications, such as a college degree, and little experience is required.

Jobs involving AI grew from 2.9% in 2023 to 6.5% in 2025, increasing at a rate 75% faster than other job roles. Also, India has an annual AI talent acquisition rate of around 33%. Further, India accounts for 19.9% of global AI projects.
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai are key employment centers, with 87% of companies using AI.
Several government and institutional initiatives have been undertaken to support AI and data science education. Under NEP 2020, universities, particularly the IITs and NITs, have launched BTech and MTech programs in AI and data science.
SWAYAM provides educational support for AI with 370+ courses and 4,10,000 students enrolled in AI and analytics. FutureSkills PRIME of NASSCOM has trained more than 1.6 million people in AI.
Growing demand among non-technical professionals to learn something new is seen as an opportunity. This is supported by statistics showing that 77% of people who upgraded in 2025 are not IT or ITES professionals; instead, they are professionals from other industries such as banking, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and pharma.
Besides this, low-cost learning, regional language learning, and mobile-first learning will increase opportunities in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Growing interest in advanced topics such as Generative AI, Responsible AI, MLOps, analytics, and domain expertise creates learning opportunities for learners.
