Corporate Bitcoin accumulation continues to expand in 2026, with major companies increasing cryptocurrency reserves despite market volatility. Strategy, Metaplanet and Strive remain prominent buyers, while institutional investment products provide additional exposure to Bitcoin through traditional financial markets.
According to Strategy's filing on October 5, the company bought an additional 334 Bitcoins for about USD 28.7 million from October 1 to October 4. As a result, the total number of Bitcoins held by the company is 848,000, or 4.04% of the total supply.
The total amount invested by Strategy stood at USD 63.97 billion, with an average price of USD 75,441 per coin. Executive chairman Michael Saylor reinforced the company's accumulation strategy, stating, “There's always room for more orange,” in an October 11 social media post.
Japanese investment company Metaplanet also strengthened its cryptocurrency reserves. Metaplanet ended the third quarter with 44,000 BTC after selling 10,000 Bitcoin and subsequently purchasing 11,000 BTC.
The transactions produced a net increase of 1,000 BTC, helping the company surpass Twenty One Capital's reported 43,514 BTC holdings. Metaplanet described the transactions as an effort to ‘demonstrate liquidity.’ The company's growing reserves highlight expanding corporate Bitcoin adoption outside the United States.
Strive emerged as another major corporate accumulator after purchasing 2,000 BTC for approximately USD 169 million. The acquisitions occurred between September 28 and October 2 at an average price of USD 84,422 per Bitcoin.
This move increased Strive's holdings to 29,462 BTC, valued at approximately USD 2.55 billion at the time. The company also reported acquiring 8,137 BTC during the third quarter at an average price of USD 78,885.
Corporate Bitcoin ownership extends beyond dedicated treasury companies. MARA Holdings held approximately 35,577 BTC in early October, while Twenty One Capital reported 43,514 BTC.
Glassnode's October 8 treasury data also listed Tesla with 11,509 BTC, Coinbase with 16,492 BTC, and Galaxy Digital with 25,723 BTC. These holdings highlight participation from cryptocurrency miners, financial platforms, and technology companies. However, reported reserves do not necessarily indicate fresh purchases during 2026.
Why this Matters
Corporate Bitcoin accumulation is increasing cryptocurrency exposure across company balance sheets, which means sustained demand for crypto in the future. However, concentrated holdings introduce risks as Bitcoin price drops weaken treasury values, thereby impacting investor confidence and complicating corporate finance decisions.
Strategy continues to dominate corporate Bitcoin ownership through substantial treasury acquisitions. Metaplanet and Strive are expanding their reserves, reflecting international demand. Meanwhile, established technology and financial companies maintain significant Bitcoin exposure. Future accumulation will depend on market conditions, corporate financing capacity and investor confidence.
