It's no surprise why memecoins are usually a hit in crypto. In the last Bull Run, Dogecoin (DOGE) rallied to as high as $0.78, minting millionaires.
In recent months, despite the general lull across the crypto scene, BALD, the first memecoin in Base layer-2, and PepeCoin (PEPE) took center stage after posting huge gains, only to crash weeks later.
Still, there is interest in this crypto sub-sector, and investors are actively searching for the next memecoin project that can turn small investments into mega gains, thrusting them into millionaire status.
Even so, for retail investors, narrowing down which token to invest in can be challenging for investors.
To ease this, analysts are looking at NuggetRush (NUGX), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Dogecoin (DOGE), and PepeCoin (PEPE) as gems that can rapidly expand ahead of the next anticipated Bull Run in 2024.
NuggetRush (NUGX) is a play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain game fusing memecoins, adding value to the sector. NUGX is native to the project, and is quickly emerging as a top crypto coin. The ERC-20 coin is a medium of exchange and can also serve as a governance token.
NuggetRush aims to eventually launch an interactive game whose assets will exist as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which can be swapped for NUGX or even real gold, delivered to the gamer's doorstep.
Presently, the NuggetRush presale is ongoing, with NUGX up 20% after the close of Round 1. Supporters and analysts expect the uptrend to continue, with the token eventually rising to $1 after listing in mainstream exchanges.
Shiba Inu is a popular memecoin often described as the "Dogecoin killer," and is even a recommended cryptocurrency for beginners. The project came into prominence in the last bull run when it rapidly surged, becoming one of the most liquid crypto assets by market cap at one point.
Shiba Inu has been developing its infrastructure in recent weeks, with the launch of Shibarium layer-2 expected to drive the demand for SHIB and BONE in the coming months.
Additionally, the ShibaSwap, the protocol's DEX, can be integrated into multiple platforms, facilitating gaming and payments. Analysts also cite the active Shiba Inu community as a possible driver for SHIB over the coming months.
PepeCoin is inspired by "Pepe the Frog," though the creator said the project is not affiliated with the original artist behind Pepe. PEPE remains one of the most popular meme coins in 2023, mainly because of its stellar performance in late H1 2023.
For now, it remains to be seen whether PEPE, a token with no utility, will resume the uptrend. However, the PepeCoin team, besides the scandal and attempted rug pull, which dented investor confidence; the meme coin has the support of whales that have been, on multiple occasions, buying the token in anticipation of more gains.
Dogecoin is the first memecoin and the most valuable by market cap. The coin was launched in 2013 as a joke but has since grown in stature, finding support from influencers and billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of X.
Analysts are bullish on DOGE because of its active community and the high number of merchants supporting the coin for payment.
As DOGE finds more adoption and the blockchain improves, introducing other use cases for which the currency will form an active part, analysts expect the coin to rally in the months ahead. Still, whether DOGE will overcome the immediate resistance levels and float toward 2021 highs remains to be seen.
Although traders are bullish on these top altcoins, the memecoin scene is developing and still at a very early stage. Even so, considering past performance, these coins can quickly thrust holders into millionaire status due to their volatility. For now, investors are considering NUGX in the ongoing presale, aiming to ride on its popularity and the support of its vibrant community.
