Key Levels to Watch

"Gold remains locked in a battle between buyers and sellers, with neither party showing enough conviction to drive a sustained and persistent directional move," said Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Group.

"We don’t see gold falling back too much if and when the central bank does raise rates. More important than the rate move is the notion that markets are somewhat uneasy about what the Fed and the Treasury are signalling," Marex analyst Edward Meir said in a monthly note.

On MCX, gold has support at Rs. 1,51,750 and Rs. 1,50,500, and resistance at Rs. 1,53,850 and Rs. 1,54,700, while silver has support at Rs. 2,36,600 and Rs. 2,35,000 and resistance at Rs. 2,41,000 and Rs. 2,44,000.
