Crypto payments platform UPay has rolled out a new rewards campaign that gives cardholders the chance to earn USDT or loyalty points when making everyday purchases with their UPay Card.
The launch comes as crypto card spending rose to more than $1.5 billion a month by late 2025, up from around $100 million a month in early 2023, according to research cited by CoinDesk.
Analytics Insight has learned that the Scratch & Earn campaign went live on Aug. 21 and awards one digital Scratch Card for every eligible purchase worth at least 5 USDT. After completing a qualifying transaction, users can reveal the card to see whether they have received USDT, UPay Points or a “Better Luck Next Time” result, with any rewards credited to their UPay account.
Each Scratch Card has a 70% chance of giving the user either USDT or points, while the amount they can win depends on how much they spend.
A purchase of at least 5 USDT can win between 0.01 and 0.05 USDT or one UPay Point, while spending at least 50 USDT raises the possible reward to between 0.10 and 0.50 USDT or 10 points.
The amounts keep rising as users spend more, with purchases of at least 100 USDT offering between 0.20 and 1 USDT or 20 points. Meanwhile, someone spending at least 500 USDT can win between 1 and 5 USDT or 100 points.
For purchases worth at least 1,000 USDT, users can receive between 2 and 10 USDT or 200 points, while spending at least 5,000 USDT increases the possible reward to between 10 and 50 USDT or 1,000 points.
Users reach the highest reward tier once a single purchase is worth at least 10,000 USDT. Those transactions can return between 20 and 100 USDT or 2,000 UPay Points, with UPay setting 100 USDT as the maximum cash reward available from a single Scratch Card.
Although the amount a user can receive increases with their spending, UPay applies the same reward probabilities across every purchase tier.
According to the company, 49.5% of Scratch Cards return a Tier 1 USDT reward, while 3% award Tier 2 and another 2% return Tier 3. The highest Tier 4 USDT reward carries a probability of 0.5%, bringing the combined chance of receiving a USDT payout to 55%.
Another 15% of Scratch Cards award UPay Points, which brings the overall chance of receiving some form of reward to 70%. The remaining 30% return a “Better Luck Next Time” result, while the specific amount of USDT or number of points awarded depends on the spending tier attached to the original purchase.
UPay said USDT winnings are credited directly to the eligible account once a user reveals the result. Points are handled in the same way, although their redemption methods, validity period and specific value are determined by the information displayed in the UPay Wallet app.
The campaign applies to eligible UPay Card purchases of at least 5 USDT, although several types of transactions are excluded from earning Scratch Cards.
ATM cash withdrawals do not qualify, while card issuance fees, delivery fees and refunded transactions are also excluded. UPay can additionally rule transactions ineligible based on its risk controls, compliance requirements or other campaign rules.
Those conditions continue to apply after a reward has been issued, meaning UPay can cancel or recover USDT or points if the underlying purchase is later refunded, reversed, charged back or otherwise invalidated.
The company can also disqualify transactions and recover associated rewards in cases involving split or duplicate payments, fraud, arbitrage or other activity it considers an attempt to abuse the campaign.
UPay has not set an end date for Scratch & Earn, with the company saying the campaign will run on an ongoing basis. Any changes to the arrangement will be announced through its official channels, while the campaign terms also give UPay the right to modify, suspend or terminate the program and its related rules.
