Why Apple Doesn’t Try its AI Technologies on iPhone 14?

Apple is incorporating AI into its products to build unique experiences, then why not iPhone 14?

It has been the cliche in the media: every year some analyst would come up with an article slamming Apple for its lack of innovation and predicting doom and gloom on Cupertino. Usually, their words come back to bite them the following year when Apple breaks another sales record and posts yet another quarter of multi-billion dollar profits.

But this time, it's different. It's not any analyst predicting the downfall of the company (it seems most have learned their lesson in the last couple of years), it is the rumor mill that just a week before Apple's big iPhone 14 day stubbornly persists saying the iPhone 14 is not getting a new processor.

Apple is tipped to be releasing a ton of new products this fall and into 2023, from the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8 to the rumored Apple AR/VR headset, if reports are to be believed. But, outside of renders and rumors, we don't have a clear idea of what those new products might look like.

That's where the power of artificial intelligence comes in. Using Craiyon(opens in new tab), formerly known as DALL-E, we entered the names of upcoming Apple devices to see what an AI might come up with.

When you enter a phrase or term into Craiyon, it searches Google for images that match those terms and then creates several renderings, combining aspects of all the images it found. Let's see how it did.

There are already a ton of rumors and leaks about the iPhone 14, as well as renders based on said rumors and leaks. The AI seems to think that at least some models will have three cameras, while others will have just two. Oh, and in every case, the notch is still there.

Let's start with a relatively easy one. There are already a ton of rumors and leaks about the iPhone 14, as well as renders based on said rumors and leaks. The AI seems to think that at least some models will have three cameras, while others will have just two. Oh, and in every case, the notch is still there.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max should feature two cameras, while the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will likely have three. But while the notch is rumored to be sticking around for the regular iPhone 14 series, the iPhone 14 Pro phones are tipped to get a punch hole plus a pill-shaped cutout.

AI Technologies Used in Apple Products

However, little is known about Apple's plan with Artificial Intelligence and how it's used in Apple products or apps.

In its recent WWDC performance, Apple seems to have taken a quieter, yet smarter approach by adding several features and updates with machine learning at its core.

The idea behind incorporating machine learning and AI into Apple products is to build unique experiences for its consumers so they can do what they never imagined they could.

Apple engineers and researchers are collaborating to integrate software and hardware across its devices and improve user experiences while protecting their data. In this way, they are creating the world's best storage, computing and analytics tools capable of taking on the most challenging problems in AI and machine learning.

But, why Apple doesn't try its AI technologies on iPhone 14?

The main point is that the company has not stopped innovating altogether, it just seems to have decided to stop delivering its innovation to the cheaper iPhones and leave it only for the Pro series.
