
The University of Pennsylvania school of Engineering and Applied Science has announced the introduction of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (AI) degree, making it the first-of-its-kind undergraduate major within the Ivy League universities and the first undergraduate Engineering degree in Artificial Engineering in the United States.
The program will provide learning in subjects like essential mathematical and algorithmic foundations of AI techniques along with practical knowledge in programming and usage of AI tools.
The program established by Raj Singh along with his wife Neera Singh are optimistic visionaries of technology. The undergraduate program will equip and facilitate the future generation of students regarding AI which can develop and benefit our society. This will empower the students to use the AI tools ethically and responsively in every sector be it in the health sector, commercial sector, industrial sector, logistics, education, cyber security or national security.
The curriculum will include coursework in subjects including machine learning, data analytics, advanced robotics, and computing algorithms.
According to J. Larry Jameson, Interim President of the University of Pennsylvania, the newly inaugurated program will help Penn engineers contribute significantly in Artificial Intelligence for the wholesome development of society and humanity.
The Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Artificial Intelligence program will commence in fall 2024. The applications from the existing students who want to transfer into the 2024 cohort will be available this fall.
