XRP and Cardano are struggling to regain momentum after October’s cryptocurrency selloff. Both have development catalysts, but recent price action, institutional demand, and blockchain activity suggest different recovery paths. XRP has stronger measurable investment flows, while Cardano must demonstrate that technical progress can attract sustained users and capital.
XRP traded around USD 1.31 on October 23, down 16.3% over 30 days, according to CoinMarketCap. That leaves it approximately 64% below its USD 3.65 record. Recovering that peak would require roughly a 179% increase from USD 1.31.
Institutional investment provides a potential catalyst. As of October 22, US spot XRP ETFs had accumulated more than USD 1.8 billion in net inflows, although their assets had declined from September highs. The funds recorded more than USD 3.5 million in inflows on October 22, indicating that demand had not disappeared entirely.
Real-world adoption is also developing. In September, Ripple announced that Brazilian financial infrastructure provider CSD BR would use the XRP Ledger to mirror records of investment fund shares. However, the depository’s existing systems remain the official records, and adoption of the ledger does not necessarily create proportional demand for XRP.
Technically, XRP must reclaim approximately USD 1.38-USD 1.45 to weaken its recent bearish structure. A sustained move above USD 1.43 could reopen the path toward USD 1.70, while a break below USD 1.25 would increase downside risk.
ADA traded near USD 0.2029 on October 26, approximately 93% below its USD 3.09 historical peak. Returning to that level would require a gain of roughly 1,423%, making a complete recovery considerably more demanding than XRP’s.
Cardano continues expanding functionality. The Cardano Foundation reported that the network joined the x402 software development kit in September, enabling developers to explore payments by AI agents using ADA. However, product integration is not proof of widespread transaction demand.
Network figures underline that challenge. DefiLlama reported approximately USD 58 million in Cardano decentralized-finance total value locked on October 26, alongside USD 69 million in stablecoin market capitalization. Seven-day decentralized-exchange trading volume stood near USD 6.63 million, down 20.56% week over week.
ADA faces resistance around USD 0.228-USD 0.240, where important moving averages sit. If it fails to regain those levels, the token could be vulnerable to a decline toward USD 0.189.
XRP currently has the clearer near-term recovery case because ETF flows provide a measurable source of demand and institutional integrations support its narrative. Cardano could outperform in a broader altcoin rally, but improving liquidity, network activity, and technical momentum would strengthen that case.
Neither recovery is guaranteed. Bitcoin’s direction, interest-rate expectations, ETF demand, and wider investor risk appetite remain crucial factors for both cryptocurrencies throughout the remaining months of 2026.

1. Which cryptocurrency could recover faster, XRP or Cardano?
XRP appears better positioned for a near-term recovery due to institutional adoption and over USD 1.8 billion in cumulative ETF inflows. However, Cardano could outperform during a broader altcoin rally if network activity and investor demand improve.
2. What are the key support and resistance levels for XRP?
XRP faces immediate resistance between USD 1.38 and USD 1.45, with a sustained breakout potentially opening the path toward USD 1.70. On the downside, a break below USD 1.25 could increase selling pressure.
3. Can Cardano recover to its all-time high of USD 3.09?
Cardano would need to gain approximately 1,423% from its October 26 price of USD 0.2029 to revisit USD 3.09. Such a recovery would likely require substantial growth in adoption, liquidity, and sustained investor demand.
4. How do XRP ETF inflows affect its price recovery?
XRP ETFs recorded more than USD 1.8 billion in cumulative net inflows as of October 22, indicating institutional investor interest. Continued inflows could support demand for XRP exposure, although they do not guarantee price appreciation.
5. What factors could influence Cardano's price recovery in 2026?
Cardano's recovery depends on improving DeFi liquidity, transaction activity, ecosystem adoption, and broader cryptocurrency market sentiment. A sustained breakout above USD 0.228–0.240 could strengthen its technical outlook, while a decline toward USD 0.189 would indicate continued weakness.
