Meta seeks out help from OpenAI to develop an AI coding assistant for its engineers

An artificial intelligence (AI) coding assistant for Meta's engineers is said to be in development with Microsoft and OpenAI, the former Facebook.

As indicated by Command Line' by The Verge's Alex Heath, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth recently told employees about the plan, saying the expense of building an artificial intelligence coding engineer is "crazy" at around seven pennies for every inquiry.

"That is the main spot in the organization we're truly thinking about working with Microsoft and OpenAI because there's a characteristic business combination there," he told representatives.

He disclosed that the business is also developing a "companion that is more about all of our code and internal documentation, built on our infrastructure."

We're moving very quickly. I think we'll have something to play with inside, I'm trusting in mid-June, perhaps late June," Bosworth said.

OpenAI has received $300 million from venture capitalists, according to reports, with a $27-$29 billion valuation.

According to documents obtained by TechCrunch, VC firms such as Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive, and K2 Global are purchasing new shares.

Microsoft has already infused around $10 billion in OpenAI which is behind the exceptionally effective generative AI chatbot called ChatGPT.

According to data from SimilarWeb, ChatGPT has been a hit, with more than one billion people visiting its website in February.
