Oura officially launched the Oura Ring 5 on May 28, 2026. The new model comes with a thinner design, upgraded sensors, and better battery life than older versions. The company is trying to make health tracking feel simpler and less bulky. Instead of a large watch screen, the smart ring focuses on comfort and long-term use.
The highlights of the new model include its slim design and size. The latest ring is over 6mm wide and 2.3mm thick, which is around 40% smaller than the Oura Ring 5. It’s made of titanium, comes in sizes ranging from 6 to 13, and features IP68 ingress protection.
While launching the ring, the company’s chief executive officer, Tom Hale, mentioned, “Oura Ring 5 is a big step toward our vision of giving everybody a voice.” He further continues, “By reimagining Oura Ring 5 to be smaller and easier to wear and pairing it with our most advanced software yet, we’re making it possible for many more people to wear Oura every day, and to benefit from the personalized, predictive health insights that come with it.”
The company says the updated hardware improves sleep tracking, heart rate readings, and daily activity monitoring. The ring comes with more than 50 health metrics. Blood pressure support has also been added, a highly requested feature by the users. Battery life is another major upgrade. Oura claims the ring can last up to nine days on a single charge during normal use.
The Oura Ring 5 has launched with two pricing tiers. The black and silver versions are available at $399, while the premium Gold, Stealth, and Brushed Silver options have reached the mark of $499.
The launch of the Oura Ring 5 has again raised questions about the future of fitness bands. For years, fitness bands became popular because they were smaller and cheaper than smartwatches. Smart rings now appear to be moving into the same space with even less visible hardware.
Some users prefer devices that feel lighter during sleep, workouts, or office work. This gives smart rings a clear advantage for comfort. If the tracking accuracy improves further, many people may choose rings over fitness bands for basic health monitoring.

The longer battery life may also help the Oura Ring 5 attract some Apple Watch users. One common complaint about smartwatches is the need to charge them daily. Oura is offering a smaller device that can last more than a week and focuses primarily on health data. This simple approach could appeal to users who want fewer distractions and longer battery life from wearable devices.
