Overview:

  • NASA has opened a unique opportunity for people worldwide, the chance to send their name into space as part of the upcoming Artemis lunar missions.

  • This initiative is designed to make space exploration more inclusive, letting the public symbolically join NASA’s return to the Moon.

  • As missions become more ambitious, NASA continues to find ways to deepen public engagement. The idea is simple but meaningful: your name will be stored on a digital chip aboard the spacecraft, traveling thousands of kilometres beyond Earth.

NASA is about to create history once again. NASA has records but this time the whole world can join the space research center in their program. The latest public outreach campaign of NASA invites people across the globe to send their names to space as part of the upcoming Artemis lunar mission. This initiative places millions of names on a digital chip aboard the spacecraft, allowing participants to become symbolic passengers on a journey around the Moon.

In recent years, space exploration is witnessing a revival and NASA’s move brings science closer to everyday people, boosting their curiosity, educational scope, and most importantly global unity.

Whether you’re a student dreaming of astronomy, a space enthusiast, or simply someone who wants to be part of a real NASA mission, the Artemis lunar mission is a golden opportunity to make your mark beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

What’s Artemis II and Why This Name Campaign Matters

NASA's Artemis II will mark NASA's first human-operated mission since the conclusion of the Apollo program in 1972. Apollo was NASA's final crewed exploration of Deep Space as crewed missions have not occurred for more than a decade under the Artemis program; this upcoming mission will allow for a new human exploration of the Moon since Apollo.

NASA intends to place four astronauts on an Orion space vehicle using this mission to test the Orion spacecraft for future missions. One of these four can be provided by the Canadian Space Agency; however, in addition to exploring Deep Space, NASA will provide people from around the globe with the opportunity to participate and experience the Artemis II mission, regardless of whether or not they are astronauts.

NASA has started a campaign known as "Send Your Name with Artemis II", which allows people from all over the world to submit their names to be added to a database, which will be included in a memory card carried in Orion into space. This campaign aims to create excitement for lunar exploration and inspire the feeling of public participation in space missions.

How Can You Send Your Name to Space on NASA’s Artemis Mission?

The process is incredibly straightforward, you don’t need to physically visit any location for that. The process is completely online. Here’s how one should register their name for the mission:

Visit NASA’s Official Registration Page

NASA has created a dedicated portal for sending names to space. This is where you have to register your details for participation.

Fill in Your Information

Once you are in the portal, you have to provide your name and create a PIN code. The PIN helps retrieve your boarding pass later.

Download Your Digital Boarding Pass

After you have registered your details, NASA will generate a personalized boarding pass which will show that your name will travel on the mission.

Share or Save It as a Keepsake

Once all these processes are done, you can print or share your boarding pass online as their ticket to space.

The entire process will take just a few minutes but if you register successfully, your name will travel to space and roam in the moon's orbit for 10 days with astronauts.

Why Should You Try It?

Adding your name to the mission, you will become a part of humanity’s boldest adventures. Of course, in a symbolic, but meaningful way. Your name could enter Moon’s orbit with the spacecraft.

For students, dreamers, and space-curious people, NASA’s gesture offers a lasting memento, a customized boarding pass that will highlight the moment when humanity once again reached out to its celestial neighbour.
