Google acquired Cameyo, a company specializing in software that allows Windows apps to be run on ChromeOS devices, for an undisclosed amount.

Acknowledging the value of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), Google teamed up with Cameyo last year to introduce a smooth virtual application delivery service that is fully compatible with ChromeOS.

These capabilities ensure that users can readily access their data and files securely and in ways they are already comfortable with through virtual applications.

"By incorporating the expertise of the Cameyo team into our own, we are reinforcing our dedication to providing a more efficient experience for virtual applications," stated Naveen Viswanatha, the Head of Product Management for ChromeOS. 

Chrome OS has continued to do its best to ensure that users have the best experience with virtual applications.

The company says this commitment means that ChromeOS users will be able to easily access all the necessary legacy applications without any complicated installations or updates.

Google has noted that organizations that incorporate Cameyo’s technology into ChromeOS are able to advance their move towards browser-based applications.

It is easy to install and deploy virtualized applications and to use them wherever and on whatever devices are used in the organization. 

The company has stated, "ChromeOS and Cameyo both offer zero-trust security and together provide comprehensive protection for data and systems against vulnerabilities."

"By merging the capabilities of ChromeOS with Cameyo's cutting-edge VAD technology, we are enabling businesses to update their IT infrastructure while safeguarding their investments in current software," Viswanatha has mentioned.
