According to The Verge, reports published on October 10, 2026, linked cryptocurrency thefts to suspected tampering with Ledger hardware wallets sold through Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBillis.
The report said an unauthorized hardware implant may have intercepted recovery phrases during wallet setup. The report said more than USD 86 million in cryptocurrency was reportedly stolen from hundreds of wallets. Ledger reportedly asked the reseller to pause sales while it investigated.
In a separate case, Telangana police arrested two people from Andhra Pradesh on October 11 over an alleged investment fraud involving approximately 500 investors and losses exceeding Rs. 10 crore.
According to a PTI report published by Rediff, the accused allegedly promised to double investments within two years and offered commissions of up to 25% for recruiting new members.
Bitcoin and Ethereum posted daily gains, but weekly losses across several major cryptocurrencies indicate uneven market performance. The reported fraud cases also underline the importance of verifying investment platforms, protecting recovery phrases, and avoiding promises of guaranteed returns.
Cryptocurrency prices fluctuate rapidly, and investors should check updated market data before making financial decisions.
