Leading with Data and AI: EY’s Subish Ram on GCC Disruption

From support to strategy: Learn how emerging tech is building intelligent enterprises

Written By : Market Trends

India has long been a strong global hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs). Now, as we edge toward the end of 2025 and beyond, a wave of technological advancements is reshaping this sector like never before. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and data analytics are doing more than merely optimizing operations. They are revolutionizing how GCCs function and deliver value.

In this episode of the Analytics Insight Podcast, Priya Dialani speaks with Subish Ram, Digital Products and Services Leader, Enablement Services, Global Delivery Services at Ernst & Young (EY). The discussion explored the dynamic shifts in technology and the changing face of GCCs.

EY’s Role in Shaping the Future of Delivery Services

EY is a global leader in professional services, widely recognized as part of the “Big Four” along with Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG. Within EY, the Global Delivery Services (GDS) arm functions as the firm’s capability center, a vast network of delivery hubs around the world.

Subish Ram describes GDS as the engine that supports EY’s member firms across various domains, including consulting, technology, tax, and assurance. The GDS team is deeply focused on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive transformation for both internal functions and external clients.

“At EY Global Delivery Services, our goal is to optimize business operations and accelerate digital transformation using tools like AI and cloud computing,” Subish explains.

A Career Built on Transformation

In nearly two decades at EY, Subish has cultivated deep expertise in technology consulting and IT strategy. His current role centers on leading the Enablement Services function's Digital Products and Services team. This group empowers EY’s internal finance, HR, procurement, and IT departments by integrating transformative digital tools.

From AI-driven automation to low-code applications and Microsoft Copilot, Subish’s team is focused on practical, scalable innovation. “Each year brings new advancements,” he shares. “Our mission is to bring that innovation to our internal services and maximize their efficiency.”

Whether it’s using AI to generate data-driven insights or simplifying workflows through automation, his team is tasked with ensuring that EY’s corporate functions remain agile and digitally mature.

GCCs as Engines of Reinvention

In today’s fast-evolving market, organizations must constantly reinvent themselves to stay competitive. GCCs, once seen primarily as offshore delivery centers, are now at the forefront of this reinvention. With increasing emphasis on digital agility, these centers are transforming into strategic innovation hubs.

Subish explains, “AI and automation have become pivotal levers of reinvention for modern enterprises. GCCs are no longer just about cost efficiency—they’re becoming centers for value creation.”

What once was a model based on labor arbitrage has now matured into a high-value, tech-driven capability framework. AI is playing a central role in this transformation by automating repetitive tasks, augmenting human intelligence, and enabling faster decision-making through data analytics.

The Role of AI and Data in GCC Evolution

AI has existed in research labs for decades, but its mainstream impact is now being felt across industries. Subish notes that GCCs are rapidly adapting to this new paradigm—not just out of necessity, but because of the significant strategic advantages.

“As AI enters both professional and personal spheres, GCCs are evolving too,” he says. “They’re shifting from being support functions to becoming innovation drivers for enterprises.”

By embedding AI into core processes, GCCs are enhancing operational efficiency and offering new solutions to complex business challenges. Data has become the new fuel powering these centers from personalized services to predictive insights.

Final Thoughts

The evolution of Global Capability Centers is a structural shift in how global organizations operate. Thanks to technologies like AI, data analytics, and automation, GCCs are becoming strategic enablers of innovation and growth. EY, with brilliant minds like Subish Ram, continues to shape agile, resilient, and intelligent enterprises as businesses look toward the future.
