Bose Meets Thom Browne: Bose has teamed up with fashion designer Thom Browne for a limited-edition QuietComfort Ultra Headphones 2nd Gen. The special version focuses on luxury styling rather than new technology. Its audio, active noise cancellation, and core features remain unchanged from the standard model.
The Cashmere Touch: The biggest physical change is the material used around the headphones. Bose replaces the standard faux-leather ear cushions and headband padding with cashmere. The company describes the material as creating a winter-earmuff-inspired feel. It gives the familiar headphones a noticeably more fashion-oriented character.
Thom Browne’s Signature Stripes: The design carries Thom Browne’s instantly recognisable red, white and blue stripe treatment. The pattern appears across the earcups, headband tag and carrying case. Four white stripes also identify the left earcup. These details make the headphones visually distinct from the standard version.
The Audio Stays the Same: Despite the dramatic appearance, the special edition does not introduce a new audio system. It retains Bose’s CustomTune technology and Immersive Audio capabilities. Active noise cancellation also remains unchanged. In other words, buyers are paying for the exclusive design rather than a new acoustic platform.
Battery Life Remains Familiar: The Thom Browne edition reportedly offers up to 30 hours of battery life with Immersive Audio disabled. That matches the standard second-generation QuietComfort Ultra specification. USB-C audio and Bose’s companion app are also retained. The special edition therefore changes the look without fundamentally changing everyday functionality.
A Huge Price Premium: The luxury styling comes with a substantial price increase. The Bose x Thom Browne edition costs $950, compared with the standard model’s $449 regular price. It was offered for preorder through Bose and Thom Browne, with shipping scheduled to begin September 28.
Fashion, Not a Hardware Upgrade: The special edition is essentially a fashion-focused reinterpretation of Bose’s flagship noise-canceling headphones. Buyers get premium materials, exclusive branding, and limited-edition styling. They do not get a fundamentally different audio experience. That distinction is what makes this Bose gadget unusual in the premium headphone market.
