Must-Have iPhone Settings for Better Privacy

Turn Off App Tracking

Many apps track your activity across websites and services to deliver targeted ads. Turning off app tracking limits how companies collect and share your data. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and disable the option to improve privacy.

Review Location Access

Some apps request location access even when it isn't necessary. Review permissions in Location Services and select "While Using the App" or "Never" whenever possible. Limiting location access helps prevent unnecessary tracking and protects information about your daily movements.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra security layer to your Apple ID. Even if someone discovers your password, they cannot access your account without a verification code. This setting helps protect photos, contacts, backups, and other important personal information.

Hide Your Email Address

Apple's Hide My Email feature creates random email addresses for app and website sign-ups. Messages are forwarded to your real inbox while keeping your actual address private. This reduces spam and helps protect your email from being shared or exposed.

Manage App Permissions

Regularly check which apps can access your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, and files. Some apps request more permissions than they need. Removing unnecessary access limits data collection and gives you greater control over your personal information and privacy.

Activate Lockdown Mode

Lockdown Mode offers Apple's highest level of security against sophisticated cyber threats. It restricts certain features that attackers may exploit. While not necessary for everyone, users seeking maximum protection can enable this feature through Privacy & Security settings.

Disable Significant Locations

Your iPhone can store a record of places you frequently visit. Although the information is encrypted, some users prefer not to keep such data. Turning off Significant Locations helps reduce the amount of personal location history stored on your device.

Use iCloud Private Relay

Available with iCloud+, Private Relay hides your IP address and encrypts Safari browsing activity. This makes it harder for advertisers, websites, and internet providers to track your online behavior, helping create a more private and secure browsing experience.
