Meet Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, Raymond’s New Defence CEO
Raymond has appointed former Bharat Electronics Limited Chairman and Managing Director Bhanu Prakash Srivastava as CEO of its defence business. Effective July 6, 2026, he is tasked with shaping the division’s strategy and expansion. His appointment comes as Raymond looks to build a technology-led defence platform spanning engineering, electronics, aerospace and related strategic sectors in India.
His BEL Tenure Started With A ₹51,000 Crore Market Value
The ₹51,000-crore figure associated with Srivastava comes from his time at Bharat Electronics. When he became BEL’s CMD, the company’s market capitalisation was around ₹51,000 crore. During his leadership, that figure rose to approximately ₹1.5 lakh crore, highlighting the scale of growth achieved under his tenure at the state-owned defence electronics company.
He Helped BEL Secure More Than ₹55,000 Crore In Orders
Srivastava’s tenure at BEL was also marked by a substantial increase in business opportunities. The company secured more than ₹55,000 crore in new orders during his leadership, while expanding its capabilities across radar, naval systems, communications, electronic warfare and other defence technologies. The performance strengthened his credentials in managing large and strategically important defence programmes.
More Than 100 Defence Products Were Launched Under His Leadership
During his time at BEL, Srivastava oversaw the launch of more than 100 products while strengthening research and development. His experience covered multiple defence technology areas, including radar, sonar, missiles, naval systems and tactical communications. The focus on indigenous development also aligns with India’s broader push to reduce dependence on imported defence equipment and build domestic capabilities.
Raymond Wants To Build A Bigger Defence Technology Business
At Raymond, Srivastava will lead efforts to expand the engineering business beyond precision manufacturing into defence electronics, software, systems integration and adjacent aerospace and automotive technologies. The company sees opportunities in India’s growing emphasis on indigenous defence production. His background at BEL gives Raymond an experienced leader as it seeks to develop a larger technology-driven presence in strategic industries.
Nearly Four Decades Of Defence Experience Behind His New Role
Srivastava brings nearly four decades of experience spanning defence manufacturing, research and development, operations, marketing, naval systems and strategic programme execution. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from IIT-BHU and an MBA. His long career at BEL included senior leadership across several defence technology businesses, making his new Raymond role a significant industry appointment.
From BEL’s Growth Story To Raymond’s Defence Ambitions
Bhanu Prakash Srivastava now moves from one of India’s major defence electronics companies to a Raymond business seeking a larger role in strategic technology. His record at BEL includes stronger market value, major order wins and more than 100 products. At Raymond, his challenge will be to translate that experience into a competitive defence and aerospace platform.
