Big GST Relief for Small Cars: India’s latest GST rationalisation has brought major relief to small car buyers. The tax rate has been slashed to 18% for petrol and hybrid models under 1,200cc and 4,000mm, as well as diesel and hybrid models under 1,500cc and 4,000mm. In sharp contrast, bigger SUVs, luxury cars, and motorcycles above 350cc will now attract a much higher 40% GST, making small cars the biggest beneficiaries of this change.

Maruti Suzuki Alto – Affordable Entry Hatchback: The country’s most affordable car just became cheaper. The Alto STD 1L 5MT, which was priced at Rs 4.23 lakh, now costs Rs 3.86 lakh. Even the top VXI+ AGS variant has dropped from Rs 6.09 lakh to Rs 5.57 lakh. With this GST cut, Alto continues to be India’s go-to budget hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – Mini SUV Now Cheaper: The quirky S-Presso, often called a mini SUV, has also seen sharp price reductions. Its base STD (O) 1L 5MT variant has fallen from Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 3.90 lakh, while the top VXI+ AGS version has gone down from Rs 6.00 lakh to Rs 5.49 lakh. This makes the S-Presso a more appealing choice for those who want SUV styling in a compact budget.

WagonR & Celerio – Popular Hatchbacks Get Major Reductions: Family favorites WagonR and Celerio are now available at much lower prices. The WagonR LXI 1L 5MT has dropped from Rs 5.78 lakh to Rs 5.29 lakh, while its ZXI+ AGS variant has fallen from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 6.85 lakh. Similarly, the Celerio LXI 1L 5MT has reduced from Rs 5.64 lakh to Rs 5.15 lakh, and the top ZXI+ AGS is now Rs 6.74 lakh, down from Rs 7.37 lakh.

Swift & Dzire – Maruti’s Top Sellers See Big Savings: The Swift LXI 1.2L 5MT, previously at Rs 6.49 lakh, now starts at Rs 5.93 lakh. Its premium ZXI+ AGS version has seen a reduction from Rs 9.49 lakh to Rs 8.68 lakh. The Dzire, India’s best-selling compact sedan, now begins at Rs 6.25 lakh for the LXI 1.2L 5MT, down from Rs 6.83 lakh, while the fully-loaded ZXI+ AGS has dropped from Rs 10.19 lakh to Rs 9.32 lakh.

Ertiga & Brezza – Family Cars at Lower Prices: Family-oriented buyers will welcome the reduced prices of Maruti’s MPV and compact SUV offerings. The Ertiga LXI 1.5L 5MT now costs Rs 8.80 lakh compared to Rs 9.11 lakh earlier, while the premium ZXI+ 1.5L 6AT has come down from Rs 13.40 lakh to Rs 12.94 lakh. Similarly, the Brezza LXI 1.5L 5MT has dipped from Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 8.39 lakh, and its top ZXI+ 1.5L 6AT is now priced at Rs 13.49 lakh, down from Rs 13.98 lakh.

Nexa Cars – Premium Lineup Becomes Affordable: Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa portfolio has also seen sweeping changes. The Ignis 1.2 Sigma has dropped from Rs 5.85 lakh to Rs 5.35 lakh, while the Baleno 1.2 Alpha AT has reduced from Rs 9.96 lakh to Rs 9.11 lakh. The Fronx 1.0 Turbo Alpha AT has gone down from Rs 12.95 lakh to Rs 11.84 lakh, and the Jimny 1.5 Zeta AllGrip Pro has fallen to Rs 12.32 lakh from Rs 12.76 lakh. Even larger models like the Grand Vitara 1.5 HEV Alpha+ now cost Rs 19.50 lakh compared to Rs 19.92 lakh earlier.
