Watch Out for “Digital Arrest” Scams: There is no legal term like “digital arrest.” If someone forces you to stay on a call or video, it is a scam. Authorities never conduct investigations through WhatsApp or video calls.

Never Share Personal or Financial Details: Do not share OTPs, Aadhaar, bank details, or passwords. Genuine officials never ask for such sensitive information or request money transfers for verification or bail.

Identify Common Red Flags Quickly: Threats, urgency, unknown numbers, or fake ID cards on video calls are warning signs. TRAI never disconnects numbers directly, and police never demand money over calls.

Report and Stay Safe: Report such calls on helpline 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in. You can also use Sanchar Saathi to block fraud numbers. Stay calm, verify facts, and inform family to avoid scams.
