How to Use OpenAI’s Sora App on Android?

Simran Mishra

Download from Google Play: Open the Google Play Store on your Android device and search for “Sora” or “Sora by OpenAI.” Select the official app and tap “Install” to download the app for supported regions.

Launch and Sign In: Once the installation finishes, tap “Open” to launch the app. Sign in using your existing OpenAI account credentials (the same as you use for ChatGPT). You may be asked to enter your birthday during onboarding for age-appropriate protections.

Use Invite Code If Required: If the app is currently in invite-only mode in your region, you may need an invite code to start using it. Make sure you check the region availability and invite conditions.

Create Your First Video: After signing in, start generating videos by entering a text prompt describing the scene you want (e.g., “a futuristic city at sunset”). You can also upload images to animate or remix existing videos.

Explore Creative Styles & Cameos: Choose from supported styles like cinematic, animated, photorealistic or surreal. Advanced features include character cameos (insert avatars or yourself into scenes) and enhanced editing tools for more creativity.

Share and Save Your Creations: Use the built-in social feed (similar to a vertical video scroll) to share your video creations or browse others’ work. You can also save videos locally to your device.

Region Availability & Verdict: The Sora app is available for Android in specific countries such as the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. India is not yet included and rollout dates for other regions have not been announced.
