Open the app and access settings: On Android or iOS, launch Google Maps. Tap your profile icon (usually at the top right), then go to Settings. From there, choose ‘Edit home or work’ to start updating your home address. This ensures you’re modifying the correct place label rather than accidentally editing a saved place. 

Locate the current Home address and the 3-dots menu: Within ‘Edit home or work,’ you’ll see your current Home address listed. On Android and iOS, there’s a three-dot (overflow) icon next to it. Tap that icon to reveal more options, including ‘Edit home.’ This menu is essential for opening the interface where you can enter or set your new address. 

Choose how to set the new address: After selecting ‘Edit home,’ you can either drag the map marker to your new location manually or, if you're already at your new home, tap the location button so Google Maps picks up your current coordinates. This gives flexibility: you can fine-tune the pin, or let the app auto-detect your location. 

Confirm and save the updated address: Once the marker is correctly placed (or the new address entered), double-check that the address is correct. Then, tap ‘Done’ (or equivalent confirm button) to save the change. This finalizes the swap to your new home address so that future navigation or autofill will point to it. 

For desktop users: remove then re-add Home address: If you use Google Maps on a web browser, the process is slightly different. You need to open the menu (hamburger icon), go to Saved > Labeled, then click the 3-dots next to Home to remove the old address. After removal, re-select ‘Home,’ enter the new address, and click ‘Save.’ This replaces your home address on the desktop. 

Optionally: add multiple addresses as additional homes: If you’ve moved temporarily or have more than one place you consider a home, you can add extra addresses. In the Google Maps app: go to profile > Settings > Edit home or work > Add a place. Then, either place the map marker or enter the address manually, name it, and save. The original home address remains the default. 

Customize the icon for your home address for clarity: When you have multiple saved addresses, distinguishing them visually helps. Google Maps lets you change the icon for your home address: go to the 3-dot menu next to the address, select ‘Change icon,’ pick a preferred icon, and save it. This makes it easier to identify which ‘home’ is which quickly.
