Why Is Amazon Echo Show Displaying AI Content? Amazon Echo Show increasingly displays AI-generated recommendations, suggested activities, podcast promotions, and personalised content. While these features aim to improve engagement, some users prefer a simpler screen. Adjusting home screen settings helps reduce unwanted content and gives users greater control over what appears.
Open the Echo Show Settings: Start by accessing your Echo Show's touchscreen. Swipe down from the top of the display and select Settings. On devices running Alexa+, tap the Menu icon and choose Settings. This opens the device controls, where users can customise display preferences and manage home screen content.
Navigate to Display and Appearance: Inside Settings, locate the Display & Appearance section. This menu contains controls for screen layouts, home screen content, and recommendations. Select the relevant option to review available categories. Depending on your Echo Show model and software version, menu names and available customisation options may differ.
Manage Home Screen Content Categories: Select Home Content Categories or Content Categories, depending on your device interface. Review the available options, including recommendations, recipes, news, shopping suggestions, and other content. Switch off categories you no longer want displayed. This reduces unwanted recommendations without disabling Alexa's essential voice assistant functions.
Reduce Repeated AI Recommendations: When an unwanted AI-generated card appears, tap its three-dot menu and select the thumbs-down option if available. You can also adjust content rotation settings where supported. These actions communicate your preferences, although Amazon does not guarantee that every AI-generated recommendation will disappear permanently.
Switch to a Simpler Display: Users who prefer a cleaner interface can customise their home screen with personal photographs or supported widgets. On compatible devices, selecting Manual View disables Adaptive Content. Alternatively, choose a preferred full-screen or widget layout to reduce automatically changing display content.
Understand What You Cannot Disable: Amazon does not currently provide a universal switch to remove every AI-generated recommendation, including Discover Alexa+ cards. However, disabling unwanted content categories can reduce their appearance. These settings vary across models, so check your device's available controls before expecting a completely AI-free display.
