Halo: Campaign Evolved - 5 New Features You’ll Love

Antara

Unreal Engine 5 Remake & 4K Visuals The game rebuilds the original campaign on Unreal Engine 5 with modern rendering, lighting, and animation, delivering crisp 4K visuals and sharper cinematics. As stated by the developers, every level was revisited so that the remake “feels handcrafted and immersive, true to what players remember”. This upgrade ensures that returning players feel the legacy while new players get a full-fledged modern-era experience.

Expanded Weapon & Vehicle Arsenal In addition to the original game’s arsenal, this remake introduces nine additional iconic weapons from later entries such as the Battle Rifle, Energy Sword and Needle Rifle and even allows you to hijack Covenant vehicles and drive the Wraith tank, something never possible in the 2001 version. These additions inject fresh tactical variety into familiar encounters, offering new ways to approach classic moments.

Three Brand-New Prequel Missions Beyond revisiting familiar missions, the developers have added three entirely new prequel chapters that occur before the events of the original campaign. These new missions expand lore, introduce new characters and environments, and serve as enticing incentives for both longtime fans and newcomers to explore the campaign from a different angle.

Four-Player Online Co-op + Local Split-Screen Support The remake supports online co-op for up to four players (cross-play and cross-progression included) and retains console local two-player split-screen. This combination means you can play the campaign solo, with a friend on the couch, or team up online with a squad of four- making the classic campaign more social and accessible than ever.

Campaign Remix & Expanded Gameplay Modifiers A ‘campaign remix’ feature allows returning to any mission and altering it via new gameplay modifiers such as more ‘Skulls’, randomized weapons/enemies and altered environments. This boosts replayability, letting players re-experience the campaign in new ways rather than just following the same set sequence of levels.

Enhanced Level Design, Navigation & Storytelling While the game remains true to its roots, the remake improves way-finding, pacing and environmental storytelling. For example, the infamous ‘The Library’ level receives additional dialogue, better flow, and refined enemy encounters to address past pacing issues. These refinements help both new and veteran players stay immersed and engaged, without feeling lost or stuck.

Platform Expansion: PlayStation, PC & Cross-play For the first time in the franchise’s history, this campaign remake is launching across Xbox Series X|S, Windows/PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5. Coupled with cross-play and shared progression, this marks a major evolution in how the franchise reaches players, breaking previous platform exclusivity and uniting a broader community.
