Death Stranding 2: How to Avoid Watchers

Humpy Adepu

Odradek is Key: Your Odradek scanner is vital. It will point towards nearby BTs, and its blinking speed indicates proximity. Watchers have glowing eyes and are physically larger, distinguishing them from standard BTs. Always be scanning!

Stealth and Cover: Unlike Gazers, Watchers can see you. Prioritize stealth by crouching and utilizing environmental cover like rocks or structures. Staying out of their direct line of sight is crucial for avoiding detection.

Hold Your Breath: When extremely close and your Odradek is blinking rapidly or spinning, holding your breath (R1) will mask your sound. This allows you to slowly sneak past them without alerting their sound-based detection.

Smoke Grenades: These are incredibly effective for concealment. Throw a smoke grenade directly at a Watcher to blind it temporarily, allowing you to slip past unnoticed while the smoke dissipates.

Bola Gun for Stunning: The Bola Gun is a non-lethal option that can stun Watchers, tying them up. This provides a brief window to sprint past them and escape the area without engaging in direct combat.

Blood Grenades and MP Weapons for Offense: If avoidance isn't possible, Blood Grenades are effective for stunning and damaging Watchers. Follow up with MP (Maser Pylon) weapons through the blood cloud for increased damage. It usually takes a few hits to take one down.

Timefall Shelters: If you find yourself in a Watcher-infested area and need a safe haven, a Timefall Shelter can provide a temporary shield that BTs cannot pass through. Use this to strategize or wait for them to move.
