Can You Carry a 20,000 mAh Power Bank in Flight?

Ramola Gautam

Understand the Airline Power Bank Guidelines : If international airlines abide by IATA guidelines, you can carry power banks less than 100Wh (watt-hours) in your carry-on bag, but they are not allowed in checked luggage.

Is 20,000 mAh acceptable? Yes! A 20,000 mAh power bank is likely to have a capacity of around 74 Wh, which is well below the 100 Wh limit for most domestic and international flights.

Always Carry It In Your Carry-On Luggage : Power banks can't be taken in checked luggage, as they could cause a fire. Ensure you always carry it in your cabin baggage or as a personal item.

Air Canada and other airlines may require WH ratings and labeling : Not every airline will want this type of documentation, but be sure to validate the amount of capacity listed on the label against IATA requirements.

Airlines May Limit Number of Power Banks : An airline will accept one or two large-capacity power banks, but carrying five may trigger a security alarm.

Stay Away From Damaged or Bulky Models : A power bank with swollen batteries, a warped casing, exposed wiring, or lacking BIS certification may raise a security flag or result in travel rejection.

Travel Safe - Be Power Ready, Rule Wise! A 20,000 mAh power bank is travel-safe if carried properly. Power smart, pack light, and follow the rules before you transit through an airport!
