5 Google Chrome Tips for Faster Browsing

Simran Mishra

Turn on Memory Saver to make Chrome run faster with multiple tabs open. Go to Settings > Performance and enable Memory Saver. Chrome automatically frees up RAM from inactive tabs, helping active websites load faster while improving overall browser performance.

Enable Page Preloading so Chrome predicts and loads webpages before you click them. Open Settings > Performance and switch on Preload Pages. Choose Standard or Extended Preloading to reduce loading times and enjoy smoother browsing across frequently visited websites.

Clear your browsing cache regularly to remove old temporary files that can slow Chrome down. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete, choose a time range like All Time, select Cookies and Cached images and files, then click Clear Data for improved speed.

Remove or disable unused Chrome extensions to free up memory and improve browser responsiveness. Open Extensions > Manage Extensions (or visit chrome://extensions) and delete add-ons you no longer need. Fewer background extensions mean quicker page loads and better overall performance.

Keep Google Chrome updated to benefit from the latest speed improvements, bug fixes, and security updates. Go to Help > About Google Chrome, let Chrome install any available updates, and click Relaunch. Restarting Chrome also clears memory buildup and boosts browsing performance.

Organize your browsing with Tab Groups to reduce clutter and work more efficiently. Right-click a tab, choose Add tab to new group, assign a name and color, and collapse groups when not in use. In 2026, Chrome also lets you save tab groups for future sessions.

Use Chrome's latest AI features, including the Gemini Side Panel and Auto Browse, to speed up everyday tasks. Gemini summarizes information across tabs, while Auto Browse helps automate repetitive browsing steps, reducing tab switching and making research or work more efficient.
