Samsung has also introduced the ISOCELL HP5, a 200MP sensor with 0.5-micrometre pixels. Samsung says the sensor can support high-resolution photos, better zoom and single-frame high dynamic range. Its small pixel size also lets phone makers fit a 200MP sensor into a slimmer telephoto camera module.
That change matters more than the 200MP number alone. A telephoto lens can use the extra detail for crop-based zoom. A 200MP sensor can also give image software more data for sharp results at higher zoom levels.
OPPO has taken the 200MP race to another level with the Find X9 Ultra. The phone has a 200MP main camera with a large 1/1.12-inch sensor, a 23mm focal length and an f/1.5 aperture. The phone also has a 200MP 3x telephoto camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and an f/2.2 aperture.
The second 200MP camera matters more than another high number on a spec sheet. A 200MP telephoto can retain more detail at 3x zoom and give the phone more room for digital cropping. OPPO also uses multi-frame fusion for 200MP photos at both 23mm and 70mm.
vivo has taken a similar path with the X300 Ultra. The phone has a 200MP main camera and a 200MP telephoto camera, along with a 50MP rear camera. The X300 Ultra carries a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, 16GB RAM and a 6600mAh battery. Its listed price in India stands at Rs. 159,999.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra shows why megapixels alone cannot decide the camera race. The phone has a 200MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto, a second 10MP telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The phone also has a 5000mAh battery and a 6.9-inch display. Its current listed price sits at Rs. 118,000 in India.
Recent camera tests place the Galaxy S26 Ultra at the top of the camera-phone market, with strong results in low light and long-range zoom. That result shows the value of the full camera system rather than sensor resolution alone.
A large sensor, wide aperture, optical stabilization, lens quality and image software can matter as much as the pixel count. The best 200MP phone therefore needs more than a 200MP label.
The 200MP camera no longer belongs only to phones above Rs. 100,000. Current market data lists 81 phones with 200MP cameras, with prices from Rs. 26,494 to Rs. 254,999. Models from Samsung, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, realme and POCO now sit across several price levels.
The POCO F9 Ultra adds a 200MP main camera to a value-focused flagship. The phone also has a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. The model has launched across 25 global markets, with India absent from the launch list.
That spread weakens the value of 200MP as a premium badge. A flagship needs to show what the sensor can do, not just state the number.
