Vivo V80: 7,200 mAh Battery, ZEISS Cameras, Price, Key Features

The Vivo V80 starts at Rs 62,999 in India. Its 7,200 mAh battery and Android 17 mark the clearest changes from the V70. Cameras and chips carry over on paper. Lower memory standards and a disputed refresh rate need checking.

Overview

  • Vivo V80 starts at Rs 62,999, making it significantly more expensive than the V70, with the 256GB variants showing a Rs 24,000 price gap.

  • The biggest changes are the 7,200 mAh battery, Sony LYTIA 700V main sensor, and Android 17, while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and telephoto camera remain largely unchanged.

  • The V80 is a targeted upgrade, not a performance leap, so buyers need to weigh its battery and camera benefits against the higher price and lower-listed memory and storage standards.

Vivo has made the V80 much more expensive, so price is the first thing buyers will look at. The phone starts at Rs 62,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model. The V70 launched at Rs 45,999 for 8GB + 256GB. Compare both with 256 GB storage, and the gap reaches Rs 24,000.

The V80 gets a bigger battery and newer software. But most of its camera and processor hardware looks familiar. So the real question is simple. Do these changes justify such a big jump in price?

Most figures come from Vivo's Parameter pages for both phones. The V70's main sensor name comes from Fone Arena, since Vivo's V70 page does not list it.

The Battery Is the Clearest Chang

The V80 has a 7,200mAh battery. Vivo says it is the largest V-series phone sold in India. The rated capacity is 7,015 mAh. Vivo claims up to 14 hours of navigation and 39.5 hours of local video playback. These numbers come from controlled single-app tests, so real battery life will vary with use.

Charging stays at 90W. Vivo says it can reach 50% in 30 minutes. The V80 weighs 203g and is 7.69mm thick. The V70 weighs 194g and is 7.59mm thick. The bigger battery may explain the extra weight and thickness, but Vivo does not say so.

Cameras and Displays Mostly Carry Over

The V80 does not add a new telephoto camera. Both phones list the same 50MP telephoto lens with the same aperture, field of view, and stabilization. The 8MP ultra-wide camera and the 50MP selfie camera also match. The main sensor is the only camera difference in the specifications. Vivo also promotes cinematic 4K video styles. But a footnote says 4K recording works only at 60 fps.

The screen has the same size, resolution, and peak brightness as the V70. Vivo lists a 1-nit minimum brightness for night use. The refresh rate is unclear. Vivo's overview page says up to 144 Hz in selected apps. Its parameter page lists 120 Hz. Until Vivo explains this gap, the higher figure stays unconfirmed.

Chip, Memory, and Software

Both phones use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip. The memory differs. Vivo lists newer LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage for the V70. The V80 gets LPDDR4X and UFS 3.1. Real-world impact needs testing. Calling it a downgrade would be premature. It does weaken the case for the V80 as a performance phone.

Vivo's own lineup offers a useful comparison. The V70 Elite launched in February with the stronger Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It cost between Rs 51,999 and Rs 61,999. Even the top price stayed below the V80's starting price of Rs 62,999. Prices have moved since then. Amazon listed the V70 from Rs 51,999 in June.

The V80 runs OriginOS 7 on Android 17. Vivo promises up to six years of security updates, counted from the global launch date. NopiGeeks reports four OS upgrades and six years of security patches for the V70. Vivo's V80 page does not state an upgrade count.

Before Buying: Price, Dates, and Limits

Vivo's store lists the 128GB model at Rs 62,999. Launch coverage gives Rs 69,999 for 256GB and Rs 79,999 for 512GB. Sales start on 13 October. The V80 comes in Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue, and Stellar Black.

The Diwali portrait tool runs only from 10 October to 20 November 2026. Vivo's AI tools include Snap Notes, which turns photos of whiteboards into editable documents. The phone does not support expandable storage. It supports Bluetooth and digital USB-C earphones only.

A Targeted Upgrade, Not a Leap

The V80 is a targeted upgrade, not a major performance leap. Its clearest changes are the 7,200 mAh battery, the new main camera sensor, and Android 17. At Rs 69,999 for 8GB + 256GB, the phone has to win buyers on battery life and the new main sensor. Independent reviews should show whether the lower memory standards and the refresh rate matter in daily use. Those results will shape how buyers see the V80.

Final Thought

The V80 shows what Vivo is aiming for. Buyers are paying more for a bigger battery, better camera features, and newer software. They are not getting a big jump in speed. Before buying, think about what matters most to you. If battery life and photos come first, the V80 makes sense. But the price is higher, and the processor is the same. If speed matters more, the V70 Elite and other faster phones are worth a look.
