YouTube Music has now begun officially rolling out its 2025 Recap feature, giving users an early look at their listening habits this year.

Compared to the previous versions, this year’s recap includes an AI-based chat assistant that offers customized analytics and interactive remarks about your music selections. The new feature was introduced in late November and is slowly being rolled out to all users.

When Will You Get Access to Your YouTube Music Recap?

The recap feature is consistent with the company’s usual pattern. Last year, the recap went live on November 20; the year before, on November 30. To see if your recap is ready, open the YouTube Music app, tap your profile icon in the top right, and see if the ‘Your Recap’ option is available. If you don’t see it yet, the feature is still rolling out and should reach all users in the coming weeks.

How does YouTube Music’s Recap Compare to Spotify Wrapped?

Spotify’s Wrapped has set the bar high for year-end music summaries, with millions of users sharing their listening stats each December. Streaming services like YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and Apple Music have also rolled out their top artist and favorite track-listening trend summaries. YouTube Music’s version usually shows key data, such as total listening time and top artists, but now an innovative AI element has been added.

What’s New in 2025 YouTube Music Recap?

The core features remain the same. The stats include your total hours of listening and your ‘musical bestie’ - the artist you connected the most with this year is revealed. A ‘musical passport’ also lists the countries that your favorite artists come from, adding an international touch to the recap.

The standout addition is the AI assistant called Ask Music. This allows users to have a chat to dive deeper into their music habits. You can ask creative questions such as ‘Invent five genres to describe my listening’ or ‘Describe my listening as a weather report,’ and receive insightful and shareable graphics. With AI-driven interactive elements, YouTube Music’s 2025 Recap does more than just summarize stats.
