YouTube is changing how its mobile app looks. The Subscriptions tab is leaving the bottom bar on Android and iOS. It will now sit at the top of the home screen. The change is rolling out now, but not everyone will see it yet. The tab has been in the bottom bar since 2017.

YouTube Moves Subscriptions to the Top Bar

In the new layout, the tab is called Subs. It appears in the top bar of the Home tab, right after Home. A red line sits under the feed you are viewing, so you can tell where you are.

The bottom bar no longer has a Subscriptions button. YouTube wants to bring different feeds together in one place at the top of Home. The idea is to let people move between feeds without jumping across sections.

YouTube tested this layout earlier in 2026. Now it is reaching more users. Some people may need time to get used to it. For years, one tap at the bottom took them straight to new videos from their favorite creators. That habit will have to change.

YouTube Reshapes the Home Screen

The move comes with custom feeds. These let you shape your recommendations around the topics you care about. YouTube is also adding feeds for different types of content. Taken together, the updates show a clear plan. The video platform wants the Home screen to do more work. The bottom bar will matter less for finding videos.

How much this affects you depends on your habits. If you mostly watch recommended videos, you may barely notice. If you check subscriptions every day, you will feel it right away. The company hasn’t shared a date for a full rollout. The update may reach accounts and devices at different times. Your app may still look the same for now.

When Will the Update Reach Your Device?

The Subscriptions tab is not gone. It has just moved. When the update reaches you, look at the top of the Home screen. More changes to Home are likely as YouTube keeps working on how people move around the app.
